Minefield Games Team Making Medieval Wargame For 2015
January 10, 2015 by brennon
Minefield Games are working on a 20mm and 28mm Medieval Wargame for later on this year. Currently the Polish team is showing off some of their hobby work and battles while they work on the rules.
If you know Polish then you can always have a look at the demo rules which can be found HERE. If nothing else this sounds like a perfect excuse to buy more Perry Miniatures plastics and get your big armies of knights and men-at-arms ready for the battlefield.
Rules in English will be making their way out later this month so keep an eye out if this has got you interested.
What rules do you use for Medieval combat?

Interesting…20mm is a very underused figure size apart from WW2 models, be interesting to see where this goes. It will be nice if they do Eastern Medieval Armies as they seem to be overlooked by a lot of figure manufacturers
Handy. This year’s big project is the Wars of the Roses. Initially for Lion Rampant but I’ll be looking for a ruleset suitable for larger battles as my forces embiggen.
20mm and 28mm? What does that mean? The game uses both or can be played in both?
20mm is an interesting choice indeed.
That you can play with both I expect.
I think with 20mm they are trying to cater for some of the European and Russian market where lot of gamer still use 1/72 plastic to game with ( at least the ones I have talked to do) due to the exchange rates of various currencies.
I used to have a large Newline collecton in 20mm before selling it on due to emigtraton
The game is under 20 and 28mm. Figures for the game will produce for us outside companies (several manufacturers) for the scale of 20mm, 28mm will be sold in GB and west where 28mm are more popular. 20mm are often considered a toy and not taken seriously. Often, they are really cool figure. Using 20mm makes the cost figures to play significantly decreased compared to other games. We plan to sell the 20-50 foot box for 15-20 euro? For now, the estimated price. We hope that our translators quickly complete the abbreviated rules. Perry Miniatures figures will be able to… Read more »
I for one I am all for 20mm…
@oggr Meant to add..Will you be doing some Eastern Medieval troops at all?
20mm sounds interesting. Anything that allows larger battles without unrealistic compression of battlefields or playing on tennis courts. I’ve got some old British and Patriot 20mm for AWI, which of course I wouldn’t be able to use with this, but just saying that 20mm is a great scale that captures a lot of the detail of 28mm . . . with a lot of the convenience of 15 or even 10mm.
This might be worth having a look at, definitely in 20mm scale though. The more models the merrier 🙂
@torros In game player can choise with: Kingdom of France, Kingdom of England, Scotland, Kingdom of Spain, Emirate od Granada, Italia, Holy Roman Empire, Kingdom of Poland, Hussites, Kalmar Union, Great Rus Duchy, Kingdom of Hungaria, Byzantine Empire, Ottoman Sultanate, Timur Empire, Mamluks, Teutonic Order, Golden Chorde. We have produce and sell 20mm minis, 28mm now we use Perry and Claymore. Yes in 20mm you can play big battles. In our game one minis is one man. The biggest battle what we play, we use a 1 000 minis and we play +/- 3-4h. 400 minis for site we play… Read more »
http://paint-forge.blogspot.com/ here is our painting studio. They are painted minis for MH:MW.
Sounds very interesting!
I’m currently using Peter Pig’s ‘Bloody Barons’ game at 28mm, which is tremendously fun and characterful for the War of the Roses period, but am always open to new rule systems if they allow you to play without a re-base!
Yes we want to give game for peoples:) Not that like some big producers who chage all because they want make new. We wat use 28mm but we most use a 20mm and that minis we sell to game. 28mm it was most popular in GB/west europe and many peoples have minis for old WH. Now they can play MH:MW. Now we have a 50-60% minis in 20mm scale.
Recently started Lion Rampant with Fireforge and Perry 28mm. Still have 15mm army in a box somewhere for DBA.
