Community Spotlight: Space Station Zero, Faeries & Jabba In Star Wars: Legion!
September 14, 2022 by crew
Come and join us for another delve into the Projects to find the best of the best from the last week or so. We're going to be getting stuck into lots of great-looking miniature wargaming painting and hobbying this week...
...make sure to always let us know what YOU have been working on and share it across the site.
Space Station Zero by demonsub
We start off this week's Community Spotlight with a look at what demonsub has been up to. Space Station Zero is a brand new game from Snarling Badger Studios and demonsub has picked it up and has been diving into the game!
This has meant a project that is focused on the hobby aspects of bringing the game to life but also looking at what you need to play. They have broken down the miniatures they're going to be using and such but also delved into a look at gameplay and also a battle report concerning the first Challenge mission in the game.
One of the nice things about the project is that it fully accepts the idea of kitbashing and using whatever you can when playing your games. It was really cool seeing what miniatures demonsub chose to dive into their games and how it all came together using the likes of the BattleSystems range.
If you want to get your head around the way that the game works and get a feel for it, it is well worth checking out the project from demonsub. They have put great effort into the battle report with a whole host of awesome pictures, descriptions and such. It is a solidly fun project and I hope that we'll see more exploration of the game through additional challenges!
Moonstone Faeries by innes
Stepping away from the world of Sci-Fi for a moment, we also have some stunning work by innes who has shown off some brilliant faeries from the world of Moonstone!
innes does some fabulous work anyway but it was great seeing these miniatures from Moonstone come to life. The Fae creatures from Moonstone are gorgeous and I think that they offer up an amazing opportunity for painting miniatures in different ways. I think these are full of character!
I mean seriously, look like the basing and such here. I think the work on that toadstool is brilliant and the almost pearlescent armour on this warrior just pops. Big, colourful miniatures are a nice breath of fresh air as we often talk about and you certainly get that here.
You also get to paint beautiful butterfly wings!
I'm not sure how confident I would have been about attempting that but innes has certainly made the effect look fantastic. All of the miniatures look unique and interesting whilst also feeling like part of a whole thanks to the basing too. There's so much to like here!
Jabba's Palace Rules by fourtytwo
Last but not least, we have something a bit different from fourtytwo. As folks will know if they are regular OTT viewers, fourtytwo absolutely loves Star Wars and has been doing some fantastic work bringing the miniatures from Star Wars: Legion to life. Well, things are going to the next level with their work on a full on Jabba's Palace Battleforce!
A whole host of cards have been put together allowing you to use Jabba and his band of criminal goons and mercenaries in your games of Star Wars: Legion. You have the ominous threat of Jabba in the background, lording over your gangsters whilst the core of the force is built up of Henchmen and Gamorean Guards for example.
Each of the cards has been broken down in their entry over on the project describing how they have come to life and what the intent for using them on the battlefield would be. I think it's very cool to see things get a bit "motley" with Jabba and with such a wealth of 3D Printing options out there, you could easily bring this force to life.
Loads and loads of cards, upgrades, units and more have been put together for this Battleforce and I think it would be brilliant to see them hit the battlefield. Star Wars: Legion has leaned on some more scum and villany-esque characters and troops of late so this feels like a fun way to build up more of a force.
I would also say that you need to go and check out fourtytwo's work on some other fan favourite characters over on the project as well. Make sure to dive in and get your fill of awesome Star Wars goodness!

Missed the XLBS so missed these. Some tremendous creativity on show. Envious congrats all round.
Noice!
Thanks for the golden button, I’ve been having a blast playing Space Station Zero.
Congratulations to both innes and fourtytwo. Some fantastic painting there and some very nice work on Star Wars and Jabba’s palace.
Thanks for the spotlight – and congrats to demonsub and innes for their inspiring work!
As for a serious attempt at designing units and stuff for Star Wars Legion, I have come to appreciate the rules set even more.
Also: The Gamorrean Palace Guard and their upgrades have been changed – they’ve proven too OP already, since I overlooked or didn’t consider that keywords like Pierce X are stackable and should be implemented very carefully into units with multiple figures for this reason. Solution: Make them part of a Heavy upgrade.
Fantastic stuff! ???
