Snarling Badger Release Space Station Zero Sci-Fi Skirmish Game!
September 7, 2022 by brennon
Vince Venturella and Adam Loper have joined forces again as part of Snarling Badger Studios to create a new 28mm Sci-Fi skirmish wargame. Space Station Zero is available to snap up now in PDF or Print On Demand!
Space Station Zero // Snarling Badger Studios
Space Station Zero follows in the footsteps of Reign In Hell, their last release, and swaps the flaming pits of hell for a strange space station in the depths of the void. You play as a crew whose ship crashed out of lightspeed and found themselves sitting in the vast emptiness of some hidden part of the universe. The only signs of life come from a monolithic space station that, strangely, seems to be able to communicate with you in your own language.
What Is Space Station Zero? // Tabletop Minions
As you come aboard the space station you're confronted with two options. Either sit there and drink yourself to death or explore the space station and see what secrets it holds. With that, you'll be putting together crews of 28mm miniatures from whatever you have in your collection (do some kitbashing too!) and heading off to undertake a series of challenges.
Space Station Zero Overview // Tabletop Minions
The rules have been designed to be easy to learn and quick to use on the tabletop and the focus is on solo and cooperative play. You can also dive into proper adversarial firefights if you like but it feels like the focus on solo and cooperative endeavours is the way to go here.
Of course, there is a campaign in play here and as you find victory in different challenges you'll be ushered on to the next one on a twisting path plus be able to upgrade your crew, learn new skills and acquire new weapons.
If you're interested in seeing how the gameplay works, Vince Venturella put together a video showing off one of the first Challenges.

Additionally, @demonsub from our own community has put together an awesome project where they have been writing up their experiences with Space Station Zero. It is well worth checking it out and gives you a good idea of how it all works.
As mentioned earlier, Space Station Zero is available digitally or physically and you can find all of the information on snapping up the book HERE.
Are you tempted to give this a go?

I think I need to introduce this to that Star Schlock Kickstarter that landed a while ago.
Ooh, a mention. Thanks @brennon.
So far I’m having a blast with this one and it’s fun to see what others have been using for their games. The community is quite active both on Discord and the Facebook group. Vince Venturella has been answering questions on Discord (he’s in there everyday) and he’ll be putting out an FAQ soon.
It is not bad for the price certainly you will get your moneys worth out of it. What it is not is Stargrave or Kill team or a rule set close to that level. For me it was more like playing through an old school fighting fantasy book on the tabletop. I say that as not a bad thing.
They are two quite famous people in the hobby and hype is perhaps bluring the reality is this only their second rule book. It is limited so dont go into expecting stargrave.
Ooh that does look like a great fun game an system.
I LOVE the art! Anybody knows if they launch on more lenguage? Spanish for example ?
