Pre-Order New Arab Infantry For Fireforge’s Armies Of Islam
August 30, 2022 by brennon
The folks at Fireforge Games are now taking pre-orders for two new sets of plastic 28mm Arab Infantry that can be used in your Historical wargames. The Armies Of Islam range has now expanded offering up pretty much all of the core options for crafting an army.
Plastic Arabs // Fireforge Games
Breaking things down, the new sets cover the Berber Infantry and the Black Guard. First up, we have the Berber Infantry who come armed with swords, shields and bows.

Inside the set, you'll find enough sprues and bits to make twenty-four of the Berber Infantry complete with those awesome headscarves that shield them from the blasting sands of the desert.
Berber Infantry - Sprue // Fireforge Games
The set breaks down quite nicely in that it gives you quite a few nice posable options for your soldiers. You've also got plenty of different head designs to vary things up. Most importantly, I think this works really well as a kit for people building big armies because it isn't too fiddly!
I like that you've also got a variety of different variants for the archers. You have some who have loosed their arrows and others who are waiting with arrows nocked.
You can also dive in and build yourself a regiment of the Black Guard.
Black Guard - Fireforge Games
This set allows you to make one of the most powerful if marginalised forces in the region at the time. Crafted as a slave army for Isma‘il ibn Sharif, they were loyal to him and him alone and allowed him to maintain control over Morocco.
Black Guard - Sprue // Fireforge Games
The set allows you to make twenty-four plastic Black Guard soldiers with their characteristically familiar spears and shields at the ready. You also get options to make a Standard Bearer and Musician if you like. That means you can make a leader who carries Isma‘il ibn Sharif's book and spouts his dogmas to the troops around them.
Both of these plastic kits are lined up to be released around the month of November so you still have plenty of time to dive in and get your pre-orders sorted. From that point, you'll be able to dive in and have plenty of fun building up Arabic armies for the tabletop!
Are you tempted by these plastic kits?

Look OK. My understanding is that Black Guard were raised during the Almoravid dynasty so really good for the El Cid period in Spain but not sure about them bring used in the actual crusades proper
Very detailed ?
Nice is Saladin coming out.
You can already get him!
Ooh nice thanks Ben.
For some reason I want Hassan al-Sabbath (Old Man of Mountain and historically first assassin) more than Saladin.
???
Nice!
Cool kit with lots of detail ready for washes. Mass battle painting would be easy for these.
Look amazing. Wonder if they’ll do cavalry
Fireforge isn’t great for historical accuracy, but they’re bloody fantastic for tabletop Mount & Blade. These’ll make a nice little contingent of mercenaries from the Sarranid Sultanate.
