Bring Elric To The Tabletop With Rise Of The Young Kingdoms

Le Départment are going to be returning to crowdfunding soon with their board game based on the world of Elric Of Melnibone. Elric: Rise Of The Young Kingdom is going to be offering up a chance to dive into the legends of this well-loved Fantasy character.

There isn't much known about the revamped version of the game that is coming back to the tabletop but you'll be joining Elric and some unlikely allies as they carve a bloody path to the imperial palace and the wealth that lies within.

You will be facing down traps, bands of mercenaries and daemons and the one of them that can claim the most spoils from within the city will become master of the Young Kingdoms. That's if they can survive the awakening of the dragons.

The game is certainly looking fascinating and I enjoy the artwork and design that we've seen in the previews so far. The mechanics come from Frédéric Chansel and Jean-Baptiste Lullien who have worked on projects like Zombicide in the past. So, they have some pedigree within the industry.
The initial campaign was cancelled due to not having enough English language support through playthroughs and explanations. The returning campaign hopes to solve that and tweak some things alongside more community input.
As someone who quite likes the stories of Elric, this seems like a project that could grab my attention. I am interested to see what it's like in upcoming gameplay videos.

Maybe one day someone will make a Jerry Cornelius board game 🙂

I hope this comes out good. One of my favorite book series growing up. I wish somebody would make a mass battle or Skirmish game in the Elric universe.
