1) You’re at home and the internet has gone the way of the dodo. How do you tend to your hobby cravings? how do you get your fix?
No Internet ?
Heresy …
2) Is there any hobby related paper magazine you still buy and read on a regular basis?
Nope.
I used to buy White Dwarf on a semi-regular basis but I’ve noticed that most articles are more as an ad for whatever game GW is releasing next or as a way to get people to buy the magazine …
Plans for this week include dealing with my dad’s funeral and maybe find time to build that ancient Landraider kit.
I miss the golden era of WD when they would have more hobby related stuff and feature things that weren’t 40k or AoS.
3) How long would the internet outage be to make you go out and buy hobby related paper magazines again?
I’d buy a good quality hobby related paper magazine in a heartbeat even if there’s a functioning internet.
I’ve tried cutting screens, but that shit gets expensive and rarely keeps the colours of the original image….
Magazines that were good, but have gone the way of the dodo :
= Challenge ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Challenge_(game_magazine) )
I’ve only ever managed to buy a few copies at random when I found them at the not so local gaming shop I used to go to (this was pre-internet).
= Dragon / Dungeon by TSR/Wizards of the Coast.
Used to be fun to read short articles on new things for D&D
The cover art (by Elmore and co) was amazing.
It’s a shame the thing went digital only, but given the cost and world wide distribution challenges it is kind of understandable.
= White Wolf Inphobia (White Wolf)
A short lived magazine for anything White Wolf related. Like Challenge this was a rare/random treasure.

= Arcane (Future Publishing)
A short lived British tabletop/rpg focused magazine. I liked it, but I think it was doomed as internet had pretty much replaced paper magazines.
The only paper magazine I still get is the one that is used as a newsletter for the DuCoSim (a Dutch tabletop gaming club).
It’s nice to read when there is nothing to do and it does have a bit more local tabletop/gaming news, but like many hobby things the internet has replaced it as a source of actual news.
