August 19, 2022 by brennon
It's OTT Weekender time! We look at some fantastic WW1 and WW2 Historical wargaming armies that we bet you've probably never played as on the tabletop.
You have WAY more choice than with Warhammer that's for sure! We take a look at lesser played armies from World War I and World War II that would be fantastic to play as in Blood & Valor, Bolt Action and all sorts of other miniature wargames. Have you ever given campaigns with these armies a go?

I can’t believe I’m first
The problem/challenge with armies that aren’t part of the big four is that you may have very limited options in terms of theatre and gear. Early ww2 Dutch don’t have tanks.
Dutch late war in world war 2 could probably be done with English troops. But you need allied support for the tanks.
Russians were also sent to Salonika as well in WW1
It’s so good to be in my rightful place of last again…
Happy Weekender all. Anyone looking for a good podcast to hobby to I suggest We Have Ways of Making You Talk with Al Murray and James Holland or for powder and ball fans like me – the History that doesn’t Suck podcast. Been listening a lot to these this week.
Always thought the campaigns between the Allies and Ottomans were way more interesting than the western Front. In terms of WWII people see events as being between the countries with the most soldiers involved. Stalingrad was Germans vs Soviets but Italians and Hungarians were present alongside the Germans.
have a great weekender guys! great show
It’s the Weekender! Thanks OTT crew, for this special edition “in honor of @Templar007 birthday Weekender August 19th” ?? Love the ‘Pig-Iron Productions’ minis. I’ll be shopping there for weapons mounted and tractored to use with my ‘SLUDGE’ armies! Just a little work to make them fit in to that genre. For anyone who has not tried ‘Blood and Valor’ stop waiting and grab it! Great stuff. ?? (I love painting the Germans with the camo helmet look) Don’t worry @avernos your not the only one that prefers a hard copy of rules. I’ll be purchasing the Warcry Compendium that… Read more »
Happy (belated?) Birthday then? 😉
It’s still the 19th here as I type. So you’re still on time! Thanks!
Merry Birthday
HO HO HO
I’ll take that!
And I’m wondering if you are a true computer Hacker, turning on my webcam and seeing me with my long beard. At work they have started introducing me to clients as ‘Santa Claus’. A few have asked to take a selfie with Santa!
Yay Weekender time’s.
The APC/Tank reminds me of the 70’s US APC 113? I think it’s named.nope it’s the m59 I’m thinking of.
nope its the LVTP-5.
Unless it jams? Gerry.
Doesn’t the US navy have oversized helmets for the gun team’s?.
Ghosts brag?
Weekender comes round again… Where’s the time gone since the last one
Ooh mouldy Groot?
A fab one guy’s.
Great show guys and welcome back John.
I’m desperately trying NOT to back the Printable Scenery KS but since I’ve backed all of their previous ones the completionist in me is making it hard to resist.
Sweet baby Jesus and the orphans I know there are some small indies but this website is terrible. OTOH 1980s SAS I need to own these things
oh my sweet summer child, I’ll show you some terrible indies 😉
I, for one, am a huge fan of the edgy vampire.
That is a fantastic box. Would go well with Dominion!
For 300 quid I’d want an animatronic dragon not an oversized heroclix that can only be used once in a camapaign.
Fully recommend this weeks Indy of the week, been a fan for years, much of the various sci fi Infantry have been used for my 28mm Hammers Slammers collection. Well spotted Ben with your Star Ship troopers vibe Ben, many used the Hesvy Infantry as Mobile Infantry substitutes for the Star She’s Troopers Game when the official figures were a pain. I have used them for that , but they became my East Riding Constabulary in Hammers Slammers. Gerry is perfectly correct that tank is a beast and lovely to paint.
$350 is way too much for a single mini, especially as it’ll hardly ever hit the table.
but it’s bigger than a can I can’t!
But how many cans could you buy for that money? You could even build a dragon out of cans.
Gawds that could be the best beholder I’ve seen
Almost intrigued by Extremist… I need a lie down!
i was disappointed by the lack of iron pigs, but otherwise pretty cool stuff, especially the BCD warrior stand ins
