Grab Free Core Rules For Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Warcry!

Games Workshop in another "what is going on?" style move has now released the Core Rules for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Warcry for free. There is a PDF download that spans to twenty-six pages and gives you a good entry point into this neat skirmish game from The Mortal Realms.

Inside the Core Rules (which you can download above), you'll find all of the rules for the basic mechanics of the game including the updated rules for Reactions and how they work with the Wait Action in-game.
There are also breakdowns on different types of terrain and how they're used, how to hunt monsters and use allies and also ways that you build your Warcry warbands. Obviously, the extended campaign structure for Warcry is missing from these Core Rules but they do offer a very easy way for you to just start playing Warcry in a Matched Play setting.
Combine this with the already released free PDFs for each of the Grand Alliances and you've got no excuse not to dive in and try the game out. Most folks will have Age Of Sigmar miniatures lying around and as long as you can get some terrain together, you should be sorted! Oh, and you'll need to find some token substitutes.

The Core Rules actually contain two Battleplans for you to try out which I thought we'd be lacking in these free rules. It's a nice added bonus and means that you can actually put together some fun introductory games for your friends.
As someone who has been on the edge of diving in to give Warcry a go, I am all for this. I have some Stormcast Eternals set aside to try this out and now I can see if it's for me.
Are you tempted to download this and give Warcry a shot?

well this is nice.
Already downloaded. If there’s enough info in there I can probably just carry on playing the current version of Warcry that I have with the new rules… unless they switched to weird dice or something…
I always feel as if there is a war for the soul of Games Workshop. There is a faction that loves the hobby, the community and warhammer and every now and again they get to wrestle control of the wheel from the faction that wants to squeeze all the money out of Warhammer “for the shareholders” until it’s a lifeless shell and they move onto the next thing to juice.
Yep and when they do release something “free” I always think : what is the catch?
Your first taste is free…
Ooh nice spooky trees, great for Halloween games.
