Dragonlance Shadow Of The Dragon Queen - Dungeons & Dragons

Here's some of the background on the new Dragonlance book...

"Takhisis the Dragon Queen has returned to the world of Krynn. Across the land, her armies of fanatical draconians wage a brutal war of conquest. As the Dragon Armies march on the unprepared nation of Solamnia, only the defenders of the city of Kalaman stand in their way. But the Dragon Armies want more than just to crush their foes. An ancient evil in the Dragon Queen’s service seeks a magical weapon that could dominate Krynn for all time."

As someone who loves dragons, Dragonlance is right up there when it comes to "settings that I wanted to play in". I have also been reading through the books slowly but surely and they really are great fun if you're looking for a Fantasy romp. There are lots of notable characters that have inspired many a player hero over the years!

Shadow Of The Dragon Queen has you telling stories during the War Of The Lance and will offer up ways to create characters from the world of Krynn plus play out massive battles on your tabletops with your heroes.

The setting of Dragonlance is explored and developed within the book as well as Heroes Of War where you'll find new ways to create characters from Krynn. That means the Kender Race and new backgrounds like that of the Knights Of Solamnia and Mages Of High Sorcery. There is also a new Lunar Sorcerer Subclass with new spells to play with.

You will also find new villains to fight including the armies of Draconians at the command of the Death Knight, Lord Soth.

Dragonlance: Warriors Of Krynn

You will also note that I mentioned war. Warfare is going to be an element of adventuring at the forefront of Shadow Of The Dragon Queen and it can either be played out using the D&D rules or the new board game, Dragonlance: Warriors Of Krynn.

This can be used as an alternative way of playing our your conflicts as well as being a board game in its own right.

"We zero in on this notion that Dragonlance is a war story,” said Ray Winninger, head of D&D at Wizards. “Classic Dragonlance is set against the backdrop of this massive conflict, and these sort of massive military battles are an important part of Dragonlance. One of the original twelve Dragonlance modules was a wargame Dragons of Glory. They asked you to stop your role-playing game experience and start playing a wargame for a bit.

[It] allows you to play out sort of massive military battles in the world of Krynn. But one of the interesting things about that game is that it has a lot of narrative elements, just like a role-playing game.”

Pretty awesome. I do like the idea of them doing deep into what Dragonlance can offer, especially with a bunch of tools like this.

Are you excited to explore Dragonlance and Krynn with these new additions to D&D?
