Joseon Koreans Coming Soon To Zenit Miniatures’ Kensei
August 15, 2022 by brennon
Zenit Miniatures are returning to Kickstarter soon with a brand new campaign to expand their Historical wargame, Kensei. Whilst they have been dealing with expanding the various Japanese powers of the time, they are now focusing on the Joseon Koreans.

This is the Chosun Clan, inspired by the militia that fought for the Korean Joseon Dynasty. They found it hard to compete with the might of the Japanese army in open battle during the Imjin War but would rely on hit-and-run tactics instead to ambush the invader's supply lines. An organised and deadly guerrilla force.

This warband will focus on archery and the early firearms of the time but will then get access to improved firearms as you play out later battles from the period. I think it's awesome that Zenit are going further afield and exploring the other factions that battled during this period.
My partner is pretty obsessed with Korea and Korean history so I might have to end up getting a few of these just to paint up! The miniatures for the army certainly look rather awesome, especially with such a heavy focus on firearms and bows. I am a big fan of archers in pretty much any wargame and I always loved their often elite warriors with their tall hats and the long feathers that stretched from them.
It will certainly give you something fun to paint that steps away from your traditional Samurai warriors.
Are you going to be backing this Kickstarter when it arrives?

Always nice to see minis from this time period that aren’t just Japanese or Chinese. There are also a bunch of Korean fantasy /horror zombie movies on Netflix and these would be ideal for depicting that and carving up said zombies.
Yup – as soon as I saw these I was thinking “well, I have my Kingdom collection sorted…”
May be good exploring new battles like Romans v Korea or samurai warriors.
The guys in the “top hats” would be amazing to add to my collection. In general Korean / Chinese models are pretty difficult to get hold of. I am holding out one day a company will release a model set for the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
Those look really good.
