The HMS Rawalpindi & More Join Warlord’s Victory At Sea!

Warlord Games has introduced some new miniatures into the mix for their World War II naval wargame, Victory At Sea. Some new ships are available for you to snap up via pre-order ahead of a release in September.
HMS Rawalpindi // Victory At Sea
The first of these ships that we're going to be looking at is for the British. Here we have the HMS Rawalpindi which was a converted ocean liner that became a patrol vessel and convoy escort. It was unfortunately sunk by two German battleships when the captain refused to surrender despite being outgunned. The immortal words of Captain Kennedy were "We’ll fight them both, they’ll sink us, and that will be that. Good-bye". Pretty powerful stuff.
As well as the HMS Rawalpindi, we also have two sets of Destroyers for you to drop into the mix. The first set includes the Benson-Class Destroyers.
Benson-Class Destroyers // Victory At Sea
Ordered in 1938 and put into service soon after moving into 1941, these were some pretty handy destroyers that were streamlined and deadly. They would often have their weapons switched out including the big main gun and torpedos in favour of more room on deck for anti-aircraft weapons.
If you want even more Destroyers then you've also got the J-Class Destroyers!

Designed to keep pace with the long-ranged warships, these Destroyers are there to provide a screen against attackers like aircraft, submarines and torpedo boats. The J-Class broke down into the HMS Jackal, Jaguar, Janus, Javelin, Jersey, Jervis, Juno and Jupiter and would use quite a few torpedoes rather than just guns.
In addition to the ships, we also have some new Douglas Dauntless and Devastator Flights for you to add to the mix.

These planes were used across the Pacific against the Japanese and whilst they were rather handy, to begin with, they did end up getting pretty outgunned by the Japanese. The Dauntless were great at taking out Japanese Carriers and Cruisers but the Devastators found themselves rather obsolete, unfortunately.
Are you going to be snapping up some of these Victory At Sea releases?

Those are nice looking ships.
Nice, but for what they are they are expensive. Three small destroyers and not particularly complex destroyers for 26 makes FW look good on some days. Warlord really is in danger of killing this off. Sure material costs etc.. are going up, but this is nothing special and there comes a point when you have to look at another model. Offering or teaming up with a 3D designer to provide might in one way lower ‘profits’ (though I doubt these make Warlord a lot in any case) on the other hand it gets ships out there for people to use… Read more »
my issue is alot of historical gamers have shops already and the rules are what we look for. not a bad set if rules but for serious gaming…maybe something more complex would be better.
Good looking additions for gamers.
