Map Out The Tigris River As A Wayfarer To Impress The Caliph!
July 18, 2022 by fcostin
Garphill Games were crowdfunding over on Kickstarter last year, taking players to a new location across the water, exploring by the means of the stars.
Partnering up with Renegade Game Studios to head to retail, Wayfarers Of The South Tigris is now available to pre-order. Encouraging 1-4 players to chart their way across a detailed map in Baghdad in the Abbasid Caliphate circa 820 AD. As cartographers and astronomers, guided ahead by the heavens pointing towards their success.

Utilising dice placement and strategy, players will be headed up the Tigris River to chart the lands ahead. Exploring and documenting in their journal, managing their workers and equipment to rake in wisdom. Hopefully by the end of the game to bring impressive findings to the Caliph, or the latter - losing their placement in the world and being lost by the natural world around them.

Impressing the Caliph is the main goal. Throughout their expeditions they will be racking up points, competing to be the most popular - well, by the Caliph's standards of a wide and successful venture. As players make their way through their journal board, logging their surroundings, they will be growing cards on their tableau for new abilities and turn-actions to progress further down their journey of discovery.
As soon as players get to the final column on the journal, they will rack up their scores; based on influence, cards and combinations from their tableau.
Wayfarers Of The South Tigris is now up for pre-order on the Renegade Game Studios store. So if you are interested in braving the open water charting the wide lands around ancient Baghdad - you will gain yourself a cheeky extra for pre-ordering direct. Adding 9 more cards as a promo pack for those who are pitching in early, which will not be made available later.

The release date is set for Q4 of this year, and we can hope that it will be arriving at retail prior to Christmas. The game takes roughly 90 minutes to play. Plus the game does have a solo mode available, for those who wish to impress the Caliph and charter the stars on their own, without competitive interference!
Think you have what it takes to scout the lands and return victorious to the Caliph?
