Battle It Out In PWork Wargames New Modular Hive Terrain
July 13, 2022 by brennon
PWork Wargames have expanded their terrain collection this month with the release of the new The Hive Modular Terrain. Designed to work with plenty of different Sci-Fi games but primarily Necromunda, this seems like a solid collection to use when building skirmishes in the grimdark future.

The Hive has been designed in such a way that it can be put together in a vast variety of different ways. The MDF kits just need a bit of PVA glue to stick together and then they are more or less ready to go. Yes, you need to paint them but with this collection, you could get away with a good metallic spray or two and some drybrushing.
The sets break down into a series of walls and pillars which can be used to make twisting corridors and passageways deep within the bowels of a Hive City.

You can also stack them on top of each other to make higher levels and provide you with sniper spots from which to take pot shots at your foes. It's like having a nice set of building blocks that can be tweaked and tinkered with as you see fit. You've even got a Stairs kit that provides you with routes up onto those higher levels.

What is also nice is that those stairs are designed so you can actually put a miniature on them. No wonky placement of miniatures there I reckon. Again, because this is modular, it can be used to create a single level of elevation or you could go further and make stacks and stacks of these in a long twisting staircase.
There are various smaller bundles that you can pick up, depending on how much of this terrain you need. Or, you can just pick up the full Hive Sector and use it to craft your perfect ever-changing Necromunda board.

I like that with the addition of maybe one or two smaller plastic pieces of scatter terrain, you're pretty much sorted. You could get this and then snap up the marketplace from Games Workshop and you're away basically!
You can also mix this with the Necromunda-based Underhive Gaming Mat that we saw recently to complete the look if you like.
Are you going to be snapping up this new terrain?

Ooh that looks like fantastic modular buildings.
Do we know if it still going to fit on the original boards that came with the game when it first came out (the current GW plastic ones DON’T…gotta love GW). There were quite a few MDF companies doing walls for those boards until GW redid everything. They look a lot more detailed than those older MDF kits, so I might be interested “if” this question can be answered (checked on the PWorks site and it makes no mention).
I’m not sure – I can ask PWork for you though.
Be good if you could, cheers Ben 🙂
This looks really useful.
