Painter Makes Gundam Mini into Anime Art
December 24, 2014 by dracs
Over on Kotaku a truly impressive work of miniature painting has been spotted that I know will have any anime fan intrigued. First, take a look at this Gundam.
Now look at it again, but this time with the knowledge that that is not in fact a drawing, but rather a miniature that has been given a custom paint job in line with the original anime artwork of the Gundam series!
At a casual glance the model is practically indistinguishable from a regular piece of anime art, painted in a shell shaded form and with the distinct outlines that characterise the style.
This fantastic paint job is the work of mumumuno53, who has worked hard to ensure that this miniature matches the style of the original show as closely as possible.
I think you will agree that the end result is well worth it, with even the Gundam's other weapon options and accessories getting the cartoon treatment.
This is all very impressive, but it has me thinking: John has one of these Gundams, doesn't he? The ball is now in your court Mr Lyons.
If you want to see more of the work on this Gundam, be sure to check out mumumuno53's site.
That is really good and looks nice.
I think Sam just challened John to paint a Stompa in cartoon cell fashion.
Very clever paint job!
It’s pretty damn good but I think this is better…

Nice find mate.
One of the coolest Gunpla paint jobs I’ve ever seen, especially on a 1/100 model.
It really looks like the RX-78-2 has jumped straight out of a 1979 animation frame, in one of the more on-model shots even. Some of the animation in the original series was quite horrid.
