Games Workshop has been previewing some more of the upcoming kits and accessories for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. To kick things off, we got a better look at the full Contemptor Dreadnought plastic kit that will be coming soon.

Contemptor Dreadnoughts are awesome but it's neat to see a new plastic kit that builds on the old plastic one from Betrayal At Calth. This is pretty similar to the one that you get in the Age Of Darkness boxed set but comes with a fair few weapon options to help you in the midst of battle.

Contemptor Dreadnought Weapons - Warhammer The Horus Heresy JUNE

Inside the pack, Games Workshop says that you get...

  • One ultra-posable Contemptor Dreadnought chassis
  • Two heads, one of which can equip an optional helical targeting array
  • Four chest plate styles, with Loyalist and Traitor options
  • Two big old punchy hands, buildable as fists or chainfists
  • Five different guns to go in those fists
  • Eight different arm-mounted guns, usable on the right or left side
  • A havoc missile launcher
  • Fetching shield and scroll details to smarten up your chassis

An impressive selection of options for those wanting to make Contemptor Dreadnoughts that match up to different allegiances and for different jobs. I like that the Contemptor is able to crush its way through infantry and then blast tanks and other vehicles away with ranged weapons at the same time.

Dreadnoughts have always been cool and I think more people need to be including them in their Space Marine armies! What could be cooler than a dead warrior, given the chance to continue the fight from within an armoured coffin?

Dark Age Helmets & Shoulder Pads

As well as the new Dreadnought kit, there are also some new resin kits coming up for the Dark Angels. These new packs offer up alternative heads and shoulder pads that can be used to add character to the Legion of Lion'El Johnson.

MKIV Dark Angels Heads - Warhammer The Horus Heresy

There are some awesome helmets here that carry over that "space knight" feel to the Dark Angels. I really like the more Medieval look and the winged helm will be great for unit leaders. Even the unhelmeted head looks great. The beard gives the fellow a more learned and stoic look.

You can also stick these neat Shoulder Pads onto your MKVI Space Marines and show your allegiance to your Primarch of choice. The sculpted detail looks better than using transfers I'd say, although you'd be comparing that against the relative cost!

Some neat new options for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. I do wondering, after the initial hype, how many folks are going to be diving in and playing The Horus Heresy. Folks are taking their time to build and paint their armies of course but it will be interesting to see where the game sits in a couple of months.

Are you tempted by these upcoming releases?
