Biostrip 20 for me. Water based and seems to think of everything
Yup Biostrip 20 is the business nothing better.
is it reuseable?
It’s reusable if you drop the minis into the pot, rather than painting it on. Small pieces maybe harder to find doing this as it’s thicker and more opaque than dettol. Will also dissolve glue. Slight sudocrem smell.
Someone should try sudocrem.
interesting
Not to use for Resin minis though as they melt! Learned that the hard way myself…
reminds me of my youth and nitromors meeting heroquest plastics… sad times
Listening to Gerry’s dulcet tones and the soft swish of a toothbrush cleaning a model is the ASMR we all deserve and never knew we needed.
Great video, many thanks! I’m a fan of Dettol for sure, and even though the minis honk afterwards, once they get re-primed you don’t smell it anymore.
I’ve been using Detol and it works well for me.
I’ve heard people using IPA for metal and plastics although some reports on plastic is that it can slightly soften for a while afterwards.
Also acetone works very well on metal only, but I guess most harsh paint strippers will work on metal, one of the benefits of metal miniatures.
It’s good to know Detol works on most resin, I’m interested in seeing if those pieces in the video harden up after a few days.
Resin get all wobbly like… almost like gummi bears
Detol FTW.
Dettol, the smell of my youth.
Dettol the smell of hospital’s good for cleaning the house and your figures. you could try sticking the figures in warm water to dilute the chemicals in the parts Gerry.
99% isopropyl alcohol in the states. May not work 100%, but is easy to use and won’t “leech” into your skin.
Then Purple Power (and Super Clean?), if necessary. Stronger, but use gloves and ventilation, if available.
At least for gaming, stripping down to primer is fine.
Dettol followed by isopropanol, or just isopropanol works fine for me.
The latter is less smelly, or at least not so long lasting.
Excellent video. Used Dettol for years though often mistepped with the dance of getting enough off before meeting water. The black gunk is a mythical beast for sure. Picked up some Biostrip 20 a few months back but haven’t had cause to use it yet.
