Earlier this year I supported those great guys at Midlam Miniatures with their KS - the Cult of the Beekeepers. Now in typical fashion they ended up in my pile of shame, waiting for the opportunity or a reason to be painted. In my continued journey to help my autistic son experience different potential career opportunities, we signed up for an eight week beekeeping course at our local college and the other ‘students’ were so welcoming and supportive that I felt I needed to express my thanks for making the whole experience for my son so inclusive and boosting his confidence. Autistic people have a lot of challenges in life and struggle with academic assessments and career interviews and often are misunderstood or simply not given a chance. So, our cohort each received their own Cult of the Beekeepers miniature as a thank you and a momento. The miniatures were mounted on 30mm lipped round bases and green stuff used to fill in the recess. This was then spray painted with PlastiKote Matt black. The following shows the gradual build of colours using Citadel paints with dry brushing and washes. The bases were flocked with a bespoke static grass mix and red flowers from Serious Play. Finally, to give some protection the minis were sprayed with PlastiKote gloss clear varnish. The miniatures were mounted on 30mm lipped round bases and green stuff used to fill in the recess. The @lloyd shot! These could make great Call of Cthulhu gaming pieces. Personalised miniatures are a great way to show your appreciation. And these people deserve my thanks so much… it was a no brainer to give these away to them. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1662635043/the-cult-of-the-beekeepersThe @lloyd shot!
