this makes no sense why you would use a champion agaisnt a hero woiw most suporting heros will be in the back ranks and if you hit the rear they will swap with the chapiom now so i can see the chapoion of the character taking challenges
I can see a couple of reasons they would be forced to accept the champion’s challange.
1) If the hero refuses the Champion’s challange, then they can’t fight in the combat.
2) Once you have them down to one rank (especially against expensive unit types this may be the way they are from the start), they can’t refuse.
I always challenge with my Swordmaster Champ, even if the enemy champ accepts instead of the wizard, 3 str 5 attacks with re-rolls to hit, makes a mess of whoever you attack, par a tanked chaos lord.
Also you forgot to mention that the champion is now actually more vunerable, as enemy models in base contact can attack him seperately from his unit, just like a Character.
Given how challenges are used abusively in order to allow vulnerable characters to ‘dodge’ attention, or to minimise the damage a unit can suffer, rather than as a fluffy duel between characters as was most likely the intention of the rules’ introduction, I don’t see how making it any easier for lowly champions to issue them is an improvement.
But that’s just me, I suppose.
4:53 – If I do that, I’ll be ranting all day about it.
hmmm…having stripped all my veterans out of my dwarf units to scrape points for more quarrellers, I may have to boot up army builder and take another look!
great vid guys thx

That Under Dog rule is fantastic…..hopefully this will stop ppl not acceping challenges….and how your able to move your champion to the thickest of the fighting even if you dont do a challenge will help greatly when flanked or worse rear charged……
But what about multiple charges…ie if you were charged by 2 units does the person who was charged choose which to fight also if charged by 1 unit then the next turn charged by a 2nd do you get to choose where you place your champion?
My goblin boss will be getting the brimstone bauble, what happens if both die in the challenge?
skaven warlock vs orge champion. who’s the real underdog 😛
can you do some champion vs champion examples as long as it includes a bestigor champion ?
