This weekend marks the 80th Anniversary of one of the most important naval battles in history, the decisive Battle of Midway of 1942. Accordingly, Rasmus and Oriskany are sitting down to humbly recreate this titanic event in a live stream of Sitrep Podcast’s “Pacific Fleet Operations” game system – a light, operations-level system where we will take the role of Yamamoto and Fletcher, Nagumo and Spruance.

Fought between the Imperial Japanese Navy and United States Navy in the Pacific, the shattering results of this battle altered the course of the Pacific War and naval history forever. Will our game yield the same results? Or will the Rising Sun prevail? Perhaps even reaching and landing troops on Midway Atoll itself?

Sunday, 2PM East US time, 7PM UK time.

Here is the area that will be covered in our game - the map measuring 1300 x 700 nauticial miles. That's just under a million square miles. Anyone wanna try that at 28mm? :DHere is the area that will be covered in our game - the map measuring 1300 x 700 nauticial miles. That's just under a million square miles. Setting up Midway defenses based on first-hand historical sources, just in case the Japanese reach the islands.Setting up Midway defenses based on first-hand historical sources, just in case the Japanese reach the islands.
Here's the game map. We're looking at 20 nautical miles per hex, with four hour turns. This way was can easily have two turns of darkness, four turns of daylight per game day. Here's the game map. Some of the charts so far. Charts scare some people of, they fail to realize that clear, well thought-out charts actually do most of the work for you and make gameplay light, fast, and easy. A partial look at the Japanese order of battle, including damage trackers for each ship. The Japanese columns go MUCH MUCH further down than the Americans, I'm afraid.A partial look at the Japanese order of battle, including damage trackers for each ship. The pieces and counters for the game. I doubt all of this will actually see action, but better to be prepared for any eventuality that may arise in the course of the turn sequence. The pieces and counters for the game.
