Orlog was a dice game that got introduced into Assassin's Creed: Valhalla based on various dice games that could have been played during the Dark Age. Whilst Orlog isn't a real Historical dice game, it is a lot of fun and now Hachette Boardgames are offering it up at retail.

Orlog is a game for two players where you roll your pool of dice in order to activate various abilities. Your dice pool allows you to "attack" with melee and ranged dice whilst also providing you with defences to counter said attacks. You also have dice that can steal resources from your opponents.

During your turn, you can also activate the special abilities of the various Norse gods that you might have chosen to ally yourself with. Once you finish off your opponent's health, you win!

This version of Orlog that is coming to retail comes with some decent and nicely in-world looking components. You get the little stone health trackers alongside two plastic bowls for rolling your dice, the dice themselves and then cardboard tokens to represent your resources and the various gods.

I spent quite a while playing Orlog once I'd dived into Valhalla and I could see myself scooping this up, at least to play every so often with my partner.

How To Play Orlog //PureArts

If you're interested in learning how to play Orlog, you can check out the video above or download the rules and have a read of them. The variety of god powers and the "push your luck" mechanics make the game worth a shot I reckon.

The game is currently up on Amazon for the US but hopefully, we'll see it over in the EU and UK in the near future.

Are you going to be giving this a go?
