Two Legions Get Their Hands On New Forge World Dreadnoughts
December 15, 2014 by brennon
Forge World have added two new Forge World Contemptor Pattern Dreadnoughts to their webstore for both the Alpha Legion and the Word Bearers. See what you think of these main bodies...
Now that is one ornate looking Dreadnought kitted out for battle. I love the cobalt colour of these Alpha Legion troops and the siler dragons across the hull look awesome. I am a big fan of this one.
The Word Bearers are not to be left out however and while there isn't a painted version of this one you can still make out the detail on the hull and the shoulder pads. As well as the various motifs etched into the armour there are a myriad of runes and other scribbles on the armour no doubt giving it immense power on the battlefield from the demons invoked within it.
Some good looking Dreadnoughts right?

I absolutely love that alpha legion one! Would love to see Romain or John do a video showing how to do similar.
It looks easy. Airbrush blue metallic, then silver. Follow with green and blue glazes.
It is a super pretty scheme.
Is that a guess, or what they actually did? I’m curious.
Nice!!. Really liking that colour too.
Every time I see an Alpha Legion mini I think, I should have stared that legion and not the Emperors Children… But then. Gold and Purple works.
Both of those look great.
I bought three of something like it at Walmart for $3.00 recently, and am in the process of kitting them out with some Robogear weapons, which usually run about $1.50 to $3.00 for two. A lot of the decorative stuff I’ll do with scrap book embellishments. I was going to make six, which will probably cost about $30. Not a fan of the humongous walkers, but something man-sized or a bit bigger that can go where the troops go seems like a reasonable extrapolation, especially if he’s carrying squad or platoon weapons… much better than schlepping them around. If you’ve… Read more »
@cpauls1 C’mon you know you were trolling when you posted and you caught Dave.
@everyone else Calm the funk down and stop getting butthurt if some guy wants to post something about price or whatever.
It is always the same old people posting the same old stuff and it is getting BORING
That goes both ways I think solar, but I’m sure thats what you ment fella.
Look, I can make these walkers and mechanical critters easily enough, and I don’t mind showing people how. It wasn’t trolling; it is just common sense. When folks don’t consider options, and just buy dumb sh*t, it makes me angry. Forgeworld is extortion. You don’t have to be smart to buy their stuff… just dedicated. GW is also capable of good work, but why would they lower their prices when people are willing to pay outrageous sums?
I wish Forgeworld would throw the fantasy players a bone, It’s getting boring seeing a different contemptor dreadnought variation every month. 🙁
Solar Auxilia is one thing, let’s see a Gobbo Wolf rider, Brettonian siege weapon or Chaos longboat… please Forgeworld… please!?! ;__;
That said, these pesky dreadnoughts are lovely models (if stompy robots are your thing) and the paint scheme for the Alpha legion one in particular, is just gorgeous :O (which can’t always be said of Forgeworlds painting lol)
They look gorgeous, but if you are on a budget, get a handful of mud, plop it on the table and voilà, beat that for cheapness…
Oh my. If this is aimed at me, you’re obviously confusing fiscal sanity with cheapness @deaddave … and certainly company loyalty with blind obsessive gullibility — I’m just offering folks an alternative. Those who still play 40k, from what I’ve seen, are mostly college students, or minimum wagers who labour long hours of overtime to afford their hobby… and at the expense of social interaction I might add. I’ve already shown the kind of work I can do, online in the hobby forum (which you described as gluing two popsicle sticks together), and will soon follow it up with some… Read more »
… crumbs
?
Well, Im not sure which is worse; the way you’re attempting to insult everyone who plays 40k, the way you seem to look down on anyone who works for minimum wage or the way you best about your wealth as if it makes you a better person than others.
Sadly, this is not the most obnoxious post you’ve made though on BoW.
discretion is an interesting word you used there… Show some.
And if your as comfortable as you say show some class.
I made a light hearted comment that was sadly taken to heart., so I apologise. But… since we are comparing penis size here… Only thing I’m narked about is that he owns more land than me. Its a humble three and a half acre piggery with a 500 capacity sty and my family has had title on it for over 90 years. I don’t drive a new car, but i do drive three old ones through choice. An 18 year old skyline, a Honda prelude and a Daihatsu copen. They may be old, but at least they are mine and… Read more »
Love those old Skylines, once owned a GT X 2000 71 yeah I’m that old……………anyhow guys di8k size means fu9k all fellas, call it a draw and be happy.
Just saw this. Good for you, but when measuring dicks, you should use your own, rather than your dad’s. Still, 2 million pounds should get you a dozen or more Forgeworld kits lol.
Ha, well done fella.
Not sure old Corgi car’s sell for that much bud but as you come across as a mega smart arse you must be right 😉
No nosebiter stop!!, I would start with a silver basecoat and airbrush tamiya clear paints over the top bud then maybe glazes to blend.
Nice is the contemtor dreadnought larger than the 40K dreadnoughts.
