Res Nova Revive Warzone On Kickstarter With New Campaign
May 18, 2022 by brennon
Res Nova Games has now launched their Kickstarter for their resurrected and revived version of Warzone. Warzone Eternal looks back at the original iteration of this dark Sci-Fi wargame and keeps things tight with a focus on smaller skirmishes between brand new miniatures!
Warzone Eternal Kickstarter // Res Nova Games
So what is the new Warzone Eternal all about? Well, the game is played out on a 3x3 table with forces numbering somewhere between ten and twenty miniatures. You can also play games with smaller and larger groups of miniatures if you prefer.
Warzone Eternal Rulebook // Res Nova Games
The game plays out using alternating activations where most miniatures on the tabletop will act and operate individually. Everyone has a sense of character to them although there are hordes of the mindless undead of course!
Whilst there are alternating activations in play meaning that everyone is always in the midst of the action, there is also a reaction system. A limited range of actions can be performed in response to the actions of your opponent meaning that you can set up some very interesting plays.
One of the neat things about Warzone Eternal is that they have gone back to scenario-driven gameplay that features a heavy emphasis on the narrative experience at the tabletop. Warzone Eternal is less about just murdering your foes and opens up ways for you to tell interesting stories surrounding your faction of choice.
If you'd like a little bit more of a breakdown of the rules then you can check out the Rules Summary which was uploaded as part of the Kickstarter.
Pledging For Warzone Eternal
Currently, the campaign offers up options for six of the different factions from the world of Warzone and Mutant Chronicles. They are acutely aware that they haven't covered all the bases when it comes to the factions and sub-factions in Warzone but this is hopefully just the starting point.
Pledge Options // Warzone Eternal
There are pledge options starting from the very basic where you get the rules and use some of the older models in your collection. You can also go to the other end of the spectrum and get everything as part of the Warzone! Pledge.
3D Renders // Warzone Eternal
The models themselves have been designed so that they embrace the look and feel of the classic Warzone range but with more modern takes on proportions and the like. Things are still a little work-in-progress when it comes to the miniatures but they seem to have got the aesthetic for each faction down.
3D Renders // Warzone Eternal
It might look like there are a lot of duplicate sculpts within the different packs (you'll see these below) but one of the sculptors for the game shared some of their own work on the project and there are a lot of other options for you to choose from when it comes to building your models.
Bauhaus Box // Warzone Eternal
Capitol Box // Warzone Eternal
Cybertronic Box // Warzone Eternal
Imperial Box // Warzone Eternal
Mishima Box // Warzone Eternal
Five of the factions get a single box each which comes with all the bits and bobs that you need to get started with them. The forces of Algeroth get three as there are quite a few quirky and fearsome elements to their faction.
Algeroth - Necromutants & Centurions // Warzone Eternal
Algeroth - Undead Legionnaires // Warzone Eternal
Algeroth - Razide // Warzone Eternal
If you're new to Warzone then you can check out a breakdown of each of the factions over on the Kickstarter page. It should allow you to make an informed decision as to which faction you're going to be picking.
I mentioned before that there is more to these boxes than meets the eye. Here is what one of the artists showed off for the forces of Mishima...
Mishima Miniatures Preview // Warzone Eternal
That gives you a better idea as to what the unique elements of the box are and the variety that comes in the head and weapon options for each miniature. I'm sure that as the campaign continues, more preview images showing off the boxes in more depth will pop up online.
You can check out the Warzone Eternal Facebook Group to see what the community is chatting about.
So, are you tempted to dive in?

I will be pledging for the rulebook.
Nice start
Actually this is my third start. There is an unspoken curse on this game. They say third time lucky where I come from. Let’s hope it’s true this time! ?
The non-Humans look interesting but not interesting enough for price + shipping
Expensive indeed
Looks good but I’ll wait for the game in the store’s to see what you get in the game.
You mean the minis?
They have posted up some of the minis painted now
I mean the whole game in the box figures, rules, counters, an whatever they add to the game.
Well those do look good and are rather nostalgic to me (Warzone 1st ed was my first miniatures game) but I am not so sure if those are worth they price.
With those prices I’m expecting this revival will be exactly as successful as the others.
? I think you might be right!
In a previous story about this reboot I did say I ought to put my money where my mouth is after years of (likely smartarse) comments. Not that much though. Good luck to the KS and all who back it.
The days of the “very expensive” miniature line are quickly closing. I am amazed that this company doesnt already know this.
This aren’t 40k, they do not have as many fanatically blind customers.
I’m seeing a lot of comments about our pricing… but at $8 a miniature, plus extra bits, that is nearly 60% less than Infinity, 40% less than Warmachine/Warcaster, and on par with similar independent skirmish games like Bushido, and only 20% more expensive than monopose figures from much larger companies’ games like Wild West Exodus and Mailfaux. I’ve been in the wargaming industry for 20 years. We did a LOT of research to make this work and fit into the market at this somewhat difficult time, economically speaking, and there is a reason we funded successfully within 23 hours. We… Read more »
Due to current events, Res Nova is unfortunately unable to ship rewards to either Ukraine or Russia. Any rewards purchased from either of these locations will be cancelled and refunded.
do you mean War? you meant Due to Russian Aggression attacking Ukraine?
or you mean COVID ?
are you Russian supporter or not brave enough to name it correctly?
Just to explain myself I was on fence on this anyway but this comment solved it for me.
I hate the war over there, my friend. The situation with shipping into that area right now is based on the postal services involved and their warnings to corporate shipping services into a war zone. It is NOT a political decision in any way.
If you are from anywhere near that area, or know/love people who do, my heart goes out to you and I hope they stay safe and it resolves as quickly and with the least amount of tragedy as possible.
Thanks for the clarification. As a collector of Infinity, I can confirm what you said. I truly hope your relaunching of this beloved franchise works out for you and that the game goes from strength to strength. I have jumped into the game twice and seen it crash twice, so I am sure you can understand our doubts and anything that stirs them (whether valid or not). It is how gamer’s brains work! I also think radegast6 was out of line with his statement, he seems very passionate but made the mistake of assuming things about your decision before commenting.
No worries; I’m sure this is close to radegast6 ‘s heart in some way… and I don’t harbor any ill will for someone who might be fighting their own battles.
As for the license and WZE; I’m confident and excited. 🙂
Sorry, I wasnt clearer in my comment about pricing. I am not going to back an unknown company to me, who is producing a wargame, and paying retail pricing. Great you did your research, but those are retail prices. In line with your peers, perhaps. But again those are prices at retail of established wargame companies with established player bases. You are neither. You want me to invest in a product that is a minimum of one year away, then it has to be worth it. Your KS is not worth it. No, no just no. You are clearly out… Read more »
Alright, I hope you enjoy the game when you get a chance.
Have a great day.
Just ignore Slayer/Jimmy’s comments; if something isn’t Warhammer 40,000, he insults it to high heaven because it’s not specifically something he likes, and even if it is 40K he insults it anyway because it’s not how he thinks it should be.
It’s wonderful that you’ve undertaken the task of bringing Warzone back into the market, and I’m hoping you have great success with the Kickstarter, since this is an IP that deserves to come back with how much of a following it has.
The truth usually hurts. Most can’t take it.
Also, if its such a great product/Kickstarter then why has it ground to a practical dead stop.
And there is Jimmy to offer insults right away, hello Jimmy. Your points are moot as the Kickstarter is fully-funded, meaning there is still an audience for both this IP and the miniatures at the cost they’re available, the campaign is now on its third stretch goal, and a new set of miniatures is on the horizon with only $7000 to unlock them, which will take less than a week at this rate, with 554 backers and rising. That’s not a “dead stop.” If you don’t like it, fine, go play with your unpainted Genestealer cultists, no one’s forcing you… Read more »
Oh, look… Warzone crashed and burned.
It ground to a dead stop, as perdicted, and was forced to cancel its kickstarter. It was a deadend from the get go. The biggest complaint, to expensive miniatures. As I said.
Also, do not make these kinds of snide comments about my comments again. You have reported me in the past for doing such things to you, and even sent me alot of weird emails about it. So how about you just back off and ignore me like I ignore you.
If you had read the cancelled Kickstarter message, they cancelled it not due to lack of interest or poor funds, but because they weren’t offering enough for an initial attempt and had some things they needed to re-think, so it did not “crash and burn,” they stepped back to rethink their approach. It’s not dead, it’s on pause, despite what you said. And I’ll say whatever I damn well please, Jimmy. You keep poking me, I’ll keep poking you. And I don’t make “snide” comments, I’m only pointing out the truth and what everyone else sees. If anyone looks through… Read more »
shame that its in USA, I will wait for rulebook copy im shops. I have enough models for warzone from first and second versions and rules has not been showed too much in depth to be tempted.
I’m in for a box and the rule book (I backed the Prodos version too). I agree a two player set would have been better but as long as it delivers on the goods and the game play is decent than I will be satisfied.
Get the skirmish pledge.
You can start out with a five man squad
On each side and if you want to go bigger take two extra boxes then you have a 10 man squad on each side and if you want the acrylic tokens one set have enough for 10 men.
Hey.
Cool ? I’m in
I have a fairly decent Bauhaus army and assorted minis from some of the other factions, plus rules for editions 1 & 2.
If affordable, I’ll buy the book.
