So I’ve got a whole bunch of Raging Heroes’ Jailbirds coming, now…what to do with them ?
Besides paint them, of course.
What rule sets would suit an army of badass sci-fi punk & biker babes with big…guns…?
Necromunda Esher gang was my first thought.
I googled ‘Cyberpunk Skirmish Game’ and Reality’s Edge by Osprey was a popular result.
Stargrave might work too.
Or anything post apocalypse… Fallout…
I reckon something like Zona Alfa might work from what I’ve seen. That has a decent amount of scope for bringing anything with a Sci-Fi aesthetic you want, kind of like Star grave.
I would try Wild in the Streets BY SLOW DEATH GAMES
If House Escher recruited at the Miss Universe pageant, the result would look like the Jailbirds.
Necromunda was my first thought as well, but my original set was sold years ago, replacements fetch insane collector’s prices and I’m kind of staying away from things GW, the last major project of theirs I really liked was Battlefleet Gothic and I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to forgive them for killing the Old World. Also, I don’t recall any Escher gang who had bikes, trikes or war walker/dreadnoughts…..or a baby hippo mascot.
Reality’s Edge looks interesting- and gave me an idea: In the back of the 1st edition Warzone rulebook, there’s a guide for converting your Mutant Chronicles character to a Warzone trooper, I have the original Shadowrun rules plus several expansions, maybe I can cobble something together from that.
If you created an Escher gang it would not be allowed in a tournament, so it’s a gang for you own pleasure and gaming with friends… so the fact that Escher don’t have bikes or a baby hippo (they do have weird dog things) is irrelevant.
Isn’t everyone in raging heroes a miss universe contestant?
And with the release of ash wastes an Escher biker gang is only a matter time. Can’t think of anyone in the 40K universe more likely to be bikers than Necromunda gangs… especially Escher biker chicks and goliath (fat bikers)!
Edit: Forgot about Orks… Speedfreaks gave them bikes.
There’s a reason why I call them Raging Hormones. Inspired troops indeed.
Maybe Gorkamorka – set in a Mad Max – type wasteland and featuring plenty of mechanical oddities – flipped upside down would be a better match for the Jailbirds than Necromunda . which, for the most part, takes place in a ghetto-city type environment not particularly conducive to Choppers or Warwalkers.
Downloaded the demo version of This is not a Test , Reality’s Edge is on the way, Zona Alfa looks a little too Eastern Europe fallout zone-specific, Wild in the Streets doesn’t look Sci-Fi/Cyberpunk but rather 1980s gang war, similar applies to Outlaw Gangs from Germany.
In real life, I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen a woman riding a motorcycle – never mind one who resembles any of the Raging Heroes gals – and most of the guys appear to fall in one of 3 basic categories: Crotch rocket cowboys, dirt bike dudes and overweight Boomers on Harleys or Harley clones who couldn’t afford such a bike when they were young enough to ride it like you’re supposed to.
