HF announced that Kev has accepted a post sculpting at Forge World. There are a couple of things that stand out for me.

Firstly they are at pains to point out that Hasslefree will continue. They have a ton of sculpts on the site already (some of which I don’t yet own *tsk*). They also have a lot of his work that they’ve not yet released, so I’ll be still keeping a close eye on their emails.

Secondly it means Forge World will continue. Horus Heresy slowed down with Alan Bligh’s passing and now it’s moving, at least in part, to GW plastic. I’ve heard a few rumours that it’s all moving to plastic (one even claiming there’s a plastic Warhound in the works). A signing like this means they’re continuing in some capacity.

Best of luck to Kev. We live in interesting times.

Will this mean however that some of the HF range will be “retired” if it’s found by the GW IP police that they stray too close to any GW offerings (ie two arms, two legs and a head 😀 )?

I think they’re on thin ice there, even those two “classic” ogres that I really want but were out of stock last time I looked. I guess Kev is no longer officially part of HF and it’s just the other guy (Arty?)

they’ve been changing casters so nothing will be retired, but restocks have been taking longer.

It will be interesting to see who joins them long term on the sculpting front mind you.

Is Hasslefree mini’s back to normal now I know he was ill for a while and that slowed the business getting orders out. Even the last post on the website is to that effect. I dont want to go into the details of personal stuff just wondering if things are okay the business side.

In terms of Forge World what I have heard is the business will carry on with the split between GW products and Forge World. It will not be as now where Forge World is basically a resin product line but they will start to do plastic and the spilt will be down product lines. So all 40K, Horus Heresy, Age of Sigmar is moving to gamesworkshop and the Old World, and box games as in Necromunda, blood bowl etc will move to Forge World.

It makes sense so that you have all the 40K products lines in one place because you have a lack of cross over sales at the moment. A lot of people are not aware products for certain armies exist on Forge World. This was rumoured about 2-3 years ago when they started getting thr second factory up and running. I am sure Covid delayed the plans.

It is interesting with the HH being in plastic and a re-branding plus GW changing all the products codes so that 40K and HH across both sites have a common code. So it does suggest that this plan is still in the works and maybe not just be rumours but take it as always as a just that rumours.

It will be interesting to see what Kev works on likely they are ramping up designs for the Old World even if it is a few years off. It is about 18 month cycle so you think they are at the point now sculpting is in full flow.

I also hope Hasslefree Minis carry on the super work they have been to date.
