The main fuselage is currently under construction. The mechanism that folds the lateral stabiliser fins into landing and flight position is now being tinkered with. There will be a simple gear connection between the two, so that both are always in exactly the same position and both move when one is manipulated. For later transport of the model, all three stabiliser fins will also be removable – for this I have already modified cylinder parts from LEGO to have two receptacles for long thin rods on each side in the mechanism, by means of which the stabilisers can each be firmly but removably connected to the mechanism. I ordered two larger LEGO gears today, which will be delivered tomorrow.

Another plan is to be able to display the model on a high display stand in flight configuration, for which a long fuselage mount will be installed in the middle of the fuselage, or landed with the landing gear folded out, which will be removable. For this purpose, the model should remain as light as possible. The LEGO parts for the mechanism are perfect for this, as they are very robust and light at the same time. For this reason, I will not install any electronics here.

Everything doesn’t look nice yet, but when everything is covered and decorated, it will look like the original. Of course, I will also document here how the cladding and decoration will be done.
