How I Paint My AWI Collection - Part 2 Trousers and Base colors
After Finishing the face is painted , I like to finish Base coloring every other part on them.
On to the trousers and vest.
The Miniature with Buff color trousers got a chestnut wash before highlights.
I mix up a lighter base color by 25% and using a #1 brush begin to look for raised areas on the model. Then make thin brushstrokes along a raised crease, being careful to leave the grove the base color as shadow. I also look for parts of the leg that are forward facing. Light would naturally land on these parts and you can add lots of highlights to them.
I then lighten my base 50% and using #1 or #0 brush go back over with thin strokes to create interest highlights.
