Castles Of Burgundy Remaster Coming To Gamefound
April 18, 2022 by fcostin
The Castles of Burgundy from Alea has been in my board game treasure hoard for years. Competing to build regions across the map as part of a "Princedom", a board game which has stood the test of time since it's release in 2011.
Castles of Burgundy // Alea and Awakened Realms
Players are heading off to the region of Burgundy in Medieval France, with opportunities to carve out the world around them. As aristocrats, players will have control of their own Princedom, with the hope to build sturdy settlements encouraging trading routes, and exploring the world a tile at a time.
Back in 2019, Ravensburger revived the title, bringing The Castles of Burgundy a new lease for the anniversary. Now, Alea are looking to head over to Gamefound for a big release of the Deluxe Edition.
The Deluxe Edition truly does bring the title into a modern era. personally, my biggest annoyance when attempting to get more people to play the title - was the fact that I found that many others could never connect with the artwork. The Gamefound campaign will showcase the all-new modernised illustrations from Awakened Realms. Hooray!
New Art Preview // The Castles of Burgundy on Gamefound
Along with the changeover of artwork, players will witness an easier entry point. Adding a free-flow of campaign and all over upgrades for quality of life, which hopefully will mean the components will be easier to identify on the table.
Over the course of five rounds, players will be expanding into a wide landscape earning points for completing regions and building into a variety of terrain. The player with the most points at the end of the title will be crowned the winner.
It's wonderful to see a title I have loved through the years get a bit of a makeover. I just wonder how the addition of previous expansions are going to work. If it is deluxe, hopefully we will see those incorporated alike the previous 2019 release. Until then, be sure to check out the Gamefound page, that has a community welcoming, details on the upcoming campaign in May and images for what to expect for the evolution of The Castles of Burgundy.

Love the original Castles Of Burgundy so this might be worth a look. I do like the graphical update!
