Uncover Prehistoric Research In Holotype Mesozoic North America
April 15, 2022 by fcostin
As myself and Ben slam our fists into the table demanding MOAR DINOSAURS, a new Kickstarter has emerged to explore the field of palaeontology! As players dive deep into research exploring different species of dinosaurs from Mesozoic North America in Holotype.
Holotype // Brexwerx Games
Holotype is described as a "fast-paced light-strategy worker placement" board game, which puts players on a semi-cooperative journey of discovery. Which requires research, fieldwork and chances to share findings with a worldwide audience by publishing Mesozoic creatures as established Holotypes.
Inside the Box // Holotype
Players will not need to go out into the field on their own. They are going to need to locate fossils out in the wild to be able to further research. Utilising a Palaeontologist, Grad Student and Field Assistant to explore and study the terrain.

Global Objectives // Holotype
2-5 players will meet a series of objectives that affect both themselves and the others around the table. Meeting growth in your own personal scientific journals, whilst collaborating on Global Objectives that explore modern palaeontology studies such as taxonomy and cladistics.
Players are working to succeed in their field, by successfully publishing their scientific research and findings and meeting goals and objectives throughout the game - they will achieve Victory Points. Whoever gains the most, will be crowned the champion... IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE!
Dinosaur Species Preview // Holotype
There are 60 unique dinosaurs within the game from the Mesozoic era in North America. These include Dilophosaurus, Camposaurus, Zuniceratops, my favourite Stegasaurus and many many more.
The Kickstarter campaign does exactly what you need it to, if you want to grab your copy of Holotype, you can! No added extras, just grabbing yourself a copy and diving into the world of Palaeontology for £38.

I know myself and Ben are a bit dino-mad, and often love seeing dinosaur titles hit the tabletop. This title specifically presents accuracy across the board, hoping that players will learn something new about their most beloved dino whilst engaging in strategy during all expeditions!
There are 22 days left on the clock and at the last hurdle of funding. So if you would consider yourself interested in the world of Palaeontology and want to explore more on the tabletop, be sure to check out the campaign.
We seem to talk about Dinosaurs a lot over here at OTT... What is your favourite dinosaur?
