About the Project

This is my daughter's first big mini she is painting (2nd one she has painted ever). She is 7 so keeping it simple. Going for prime, base colour, wash, dry brush and glaze. She is doing it all herself., picking the colours (so I'm expecting it to be bright). Just doing little bits at a time because of short attention span. Hope she enjoys it

So here is as far as she got with the painting.  Not as much as she wanted but things like school, friends and busy social calendars got in the way.  I can’t wait to see what this multi-coloured dragon (named Jeff) turns out like.  She has said that she still wants to finish it so I will continue to post updates here

So I messed up and forgot to take pictures of just the zenithal highlights.  Although this step was mostly just to make it easier for her to see all the lovely details on the dragon.  She thinks it makes it look like a skeleton,  she is right.

Using a big makeup brush a little vallejo pale sand she went to town on the zenithal highlight and loved it.  Nice easy step but loads of fun.

As you can see from the pics above she made a start on the wings, which are mostly blue apart from the 3rd of the wing closest to the body which she said “needs to be black”.

The paints that were used were citadel macragge blue and contrast black templar.

I think her plans are to do the rest of the body all blue but who knows, kids are mental and wonderful.  I am already thinking this might turn out better than anything I have painted

So I cleaned the mini for her first then she brushed on the black primer. I was surprised at her concentration with this. She took her time and got a good smooth coat over all the mini. So a good first step I think.   She seems very happy with it and is keen to do more which is all I wanted.
