40k Blood Angels Strike Out In Force With New Pre-Orders!
December 5, 2014 by brennon
The Blood Angels have descended in force from Games Workshop for Warhammer 40,000. See what you think of the new units coming your way and of course the new Codex with some amazing artwork by Raymond Swanland once again...
First up are the Codex options for you to consider. There is the standard Codex that you're used to with the nice cover art or the Limited Edition one that looks like a rather fancy coffee table book instead.
Of course you can't have the release of a new Codex without some of the miniatures as well and on top of the new Sanguinary Priest we have the rather spiffing looking Tactical Marines and some Sanguinary Guard and Death Company for added measure all on those new bases that people have got a bit bent out of shape about.
On the peripheral side of things they had some rather nice looking Blood Angel Dice and the Data Cards too although the dice (at time of writing) have already sold out on their webstore. You might have to see if you can get some more of them through an independent retailer if you were desperate for them.
Are you going to be playing Blood Angels now?

Like I said before that Tactical Squad is very nice and has some nice added options (including Crav Gun) but I am not really fond to that Sanguinary Priest. Of course other two BA infantry kits got re-release in new box with 32mm bases. I really want those BA dice.
This was my first army. It may get revisited along with the space hulk terminators for a nicely themed army.
I’m quite fancying a terminator heavy army myself, it’ll look great on the tabletop 🙂
I could live with the Sanguinary Priest if he were cheaper.
I little over the top with the Wings, on the Tacticals, but overall a nice collection.
The tacticals look great, a really nice (and unexpected) surprise but I’ll not be using the mop top haircut variety heads, they look pretty shit imo!
Not a fan of the Sanguinary Priest though, the sword is a cool looking gadget but the rest is something I’m not overly enamoured with, easy to put one together from all of the bits from other kits though I think! 🙂
Was hoping for a new fancy bit of kit. Jump Termies or something…..really stand out. Would give amazing movement to a cumbersome unit. From the sampler for the digital codex it looks like they are just pushing normal Termies and Landraiders (think it says they have so many they use them as dedicated transports). Fingers crossed GW have something special up the sleeve for the codex release week.
At first I was “meh” about the tactical squad. Then I saw that they have Heavy Flamers and I went into maximum bonerdrive.
What never ceases to amaze me is that every few years GW release a new book that is pretty much exactly the same that the one that came a few years before, perhaps a few new special rules or a few reversed from what they were last time around, with the addition of perhaps a new unit and some photos from different angles of freshly painted miniatures on different terrain. The vast majority of artwork and background material is again regurgitated from before, unless there is a new unit or character in the book at which point they are suddenly… Read more »
I largely agree. I was disappointed with what I’d heard about the Ork codex, so didn’t get it on release. Eventually I did, and then regretted it. It was the final straw: no only do they not fix rules problems, but I don’t like the layout of the new books (change for change’s sake), but they even seem to have reduced the scope to do what you want. I haven’t bought any of the codexes since then. There doesn’t seem really to be any need: unlike with previous edition changes, I don’t think that the codex being replaced is any… Read more »
nah, needs more armour nipples
Getting stuck in with some ridiculous Space Marine tomfoolery methinks. Don’t own any of Games Workshop’s finest of any sort so this is quite exciting! 🙂
Jumped in with the Deathstorm box and I’ll take it from there with the army composition once I’ve had a bash with the codex.
Really looking forward to this, currently looking up some tutorials on painting red armour and I found a great one here: http://taleofpainters.blogspot.kr/2014/02/tutorial-how-to-paint-blood-angels.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+taleofpainters_posts+(Stahly%27s+Tale+of+Painters)
Got a feeling I’m going to be painting a lot of red and black soon but it looks like a lot of fun, bring on the emo marines! 🙂
