Expand D&D Into Plants & Fauna; Herbal Journal On Kickstarter
April 1, 2022 by fcostin
Want to give your Druids and Alchemists a fresh restock of goods for your next D&D campaign? The Herbal Journal of Cicely Longbottom is up on Kickstarter. A supplement bursting at the seams with natural world resources to inspire your stories from Sarsen Games.
The Herbal Journal of Cicely Longbottom // Sarsen Games
There are many a way you can bolster an inventory adding the chance of foraging for opportunities. As players will be provided with a stunning journal to concoct a large variety of potions and poisons referenced by fauna. The pages will also include game effects too, providing instructions on failure which can result in a worse result for your adventurer!

There are hundreds of different food and drink recipes, all providing ways in which these natural resources can be implemented with plot ideas that have been inspired by real-world research and adventuring.
Under the dirt embedded in the roots lying rest, some plants want to bite back and would rather not be plucked out of their homes to achieve a greater purpose! The book will also include a stack of monsters that are not afraid to uproot when feeling threatened, adding combat-ready plant monsters to the supplement.
Stretch Goals // The Herbal Journal of Cicely Longbottom
Stretch Goals have been included as part of this campaign, unlocking new foraging opportunities with the likes of Cacti and Fungi being added to the roster. There are also new plant creatures and a new D&D Class "dedicated to herb-craft and plant-sciences" yet to be unlocked. However, we do have quite a chunk of time left on the clock and already smashed through the initial goal of £2,985 - I imagine the stretch goals will be unlocked before the end of the campaign.
There are several different pledges you can tap into. Whether you want the digital edition, or the physical copy: the e-book sits at £19.00 but if you are after a book to hold and reference during campaigns, you will receive the physical copy and ebook for £29.00.
The campaign for The Herbal Journal of Cicely Longbottom is full of information on the supplement, including inspiration drawn from extensive real-world research, and previews of the stunning hand-drawn artwork. There are 18 days left on the clock, with still stretch goals to unlock, and Sarsen Games looking to fulfil orders in December this year.
Would you enjoy adding more plants and natural resources to your D&D campaign?

Ooh nice way better than getting drunk at the tavern.
Longbottom? Wasn’t that one of those Hairy Wizzords from Hugwarts? 😉
I think there is a Longbottom in Lord of the Rings… Longbottom Weed?
wasn’t that “old tobey” or something?
I just googled… Longbottom Leaf is a pipe-weed variety, so is Old Toby.
