Get A Peek Inside The New Necromunda: Ash Wastes Boxed Set

Games Workshop filled us in on everything that you are going to get inside the brand new Necromunda: Ash Wastes Boxed Set. Ash Wastes Nomads clash with House Orlock in the blasted expanse outside the walls of the Hive City.

The brand new boxed set comes with options for stepping out beyond the bounds of the Hive City and into the blasted wastes that the Nomads call home. Out here, things are just as deadly as they are in the bowels of the Hive (maybe even more so) and the Ash Wastes Nomads are not about to let you ride through their lands unchallenged.
Ash Wastes Nomads // Necromunda
The new Ash Wastes Nomads are looking particularly awesome. There is a nice level of ingenuity and "DIY" to their arms and armour. I like that they also carry everything with them that they'd need to survive on the sands of the Ash Wastes. Games Workshop is also clearly channelling that Tuskan Sand Raider feel with the designs too.
Ash Wastes Nomads // Necromunda
You get a bunch of these new Ash Wastes miniatures in the boxed game, enough to make a solid gang packed with different weapon options. I sense a lot of people are going to be finding good uses for these beyond Necromunda too. They look perfect for those who enjoy a bit of kitbashing.
But Ash Wastes is meant to feature vehicles I hear you say? Well, yes! Here are some of the alien cavalry options the Nomads use in order to get the best of any would-be invaders.
Dustback Helamite Riders // Necromunda
Again, I really like the look of these. Something new and unique that I don't think we've seen before that offers up a fun challenge for hobbyists and painters. A lot of folks have already talked about using them as Rough Riders in Astra Militarum forces and as the mounts for Aeldari Corsairs. Some nice possibilities there.
Why could the Nomads need these though? Well, the Orlocks have brought some of their contraptions to the Wastes with these Outrider Quads.
Orlock Outrider Quads // Necromunda
Some neat Mad Max vibes on show with these miniatures that's for sure. They are going to join some of the original Orlock miniatures so you can field a full gang in your Ash Wastes games. It's a shame we didn't get the big land train in this set but I'm sure that will be a separate expansion.
The big boxed set also comes with all manner of terrain kits that can be used to make fascinating settlements from the depths of the Wastes.
Ash Wastes Terrain // Necromunda
A neat Star Wars feel pervades these particular terrain pieces. They wouldn't look out of place on Tatooine, raised off the hot sand and away from the alien beasts that roam the planet. They are full of character and I imagine a lot of folks will be snapping these up when they release individually.
All of this comes together as part of the new Ash Wastes Boxed Set that will get you started in this wild expansion.

It comes with cards, dice (including new vehicle dice), templates, measures and rules for playing out your games. The Rulebook will contain updated Core Rules as well as the required additions to take things out into the Ash Wastes with vehicles and such.
They look to have made this a fairly self-contained little set that could be used as an entry point into Necromunda if you weren't too fussed before.
Are you going to be picking up this new boxed set?

The models are cool but the scenery steals the show for me.
This 100%. I’m guaranteed to go after the terrain, maybe the gang.
Maybe more than maybe the tripod cockroach riders.
Love it. Love all of it!
I love it… but my wallet won’t! ??????
I do hope there is a decent gap between this set and the new Horus Heresy box going on order – my wallet won’t take both arriving too close together 😀
Those look really nice.
I think the terrain is the real winner here, but the Dustback Helamite Riders are a close second.
Yes them bugs do look good.
Necromunda is not my thing and this isn’t going to change that. Something really different about this though and that’s a good thing.
I’m running a WEG Star Wars campaign at the moment and want all of that box basically.
Looks like I’m adding a 3rd Necromunda box to my collection.
Feels a bit weird… I’ve liked three things in one day…
I’ll definitely be getting this to jump into the vehicle rules for Necromunda.
It’s going to be a great opportunity for building and converting for gaming in the gaps with vehicle design.
My current plan for “motorcycle” design is working out how to convert my Escher to be be riding Cold Ones. 😀
Superb expansion for Necromunda, all the models are Awesome!!!
I know this is necromunda but Im thinking Adeptus Mechanicus army vs Ash Waste army on a red planet with an army of Militarum Tempestus to back the Ash waste army up.
AdMech army = Steam Punk
Ash Wastes army = Steam Punk
Militarum Tempestus = Steam punk
And the
Kharadron Overlords from AoS = Steam punk
throw in some Nurgle demons painted swamp colours for a touch of swamp demons
Thats a universe I would collect, Can anyone else see what I see?
Honestly, Im impressed. The nomads and riders are simply some of the most interesting sculpts GW has made in a long time. Really like them. Very tempted to get them. The terrain is okay. Never a fan of just platforms and walkways for my skirmish games. Basically the same as purely open area, which is not great for a shooting game. If the boxset is under 200 dollars, Id consider it. However we all know it will be like 250 or 280. So the boxset will be a no go. Which means getting into the game will also be a… Read more »
Great terrain an the figures are fab as well.
