About the Project

After being inspired by MORK BORG, I decided to dive into the Frostgrave bitz collection and make each of the main classes from the Rulebook. I might then go beyond this and do a few more if I feel inspired. A small project focused on just having fun.

Making The Core MORK BORG Classes

I started off by making each of the classes from the main rulebook for MORK BORG. These were all made using the various plastic kits available for Frostgrave.

It was great fun just messing around with the bits from around 6 or 8 different plastic kits. All of them came together to make some pretty interesting characters that I’m eager to get painted.

The idea was to at least get a feel for the “identity” of each class. They are sort of inspired by the MORK BORG artwork but draw more from the descriptions in many cases.

I think they all came together quite nicely!

So, the first miniature I painted up was the Heretical Priest. I think he looked the most MORK BORG of the miniatures I made.

This was also the first time I actually had a go at freehand script. I think it came out ok on his scroll!

You might also note a rather lurid yellow book in the mud. Perhaps they have been reading MORK BORG too?

The second character was the Fanged Deserter. Made using some of the Demon bits as well as some of the Knight components.

The Fanged Deserter

I toyed with using one of the Demon heads for this fellow but then wanted to make him more human-looking with the cowl.

I might try an alternative to this fellow using more of the Demon bits in the future. I did enjoy adding the bloody unfortunate to the muddy base thougH!

The third character finished recently. Been a bit lacking in motivation but I think this has come together quite nicely. The Wretched Royalty is next…

Her royal house was ruined and she was cast out into the wilds with nothing but her family’s ceremonial dagger to her name. Oh, and the cat that she hates just follows her everywhere…

“Esoteric Hermit shouts at cloud” – or – “Gerry is very angry”

Finished off this mini-painting project. A nice way to spend some time kitbashing and tinkering with more grimdark painting ideas.

I also painted up the Knight Of The Bells from Bestiarum Miniatures. He doesn’t fit the aesthetic of the other miniatures here but I still enjoyed it and he was inspired by some MORK BORG gaming – so, makes sense for him to be here.

...Something Different

I think I might try my hand at a few more of these Bestiarum Miniatures. I’ve found a seller on Etsy who works provides them for a pretty reasonable price so I will be using them in the future!

Again, I had fun being nice and grim!
