Great Escape Games has released a new set of miniatures that are a little different. Rather than your typical World War II soldiers, these new sets offer Mule Trains that could be used for a variety of vignettes or as objectives during your Historical wargames.

The new collection of miniatures is for their Italian Alpini and Greek ranges. They are all 28mm and feature both the Mules themselves alongside Greek and Italian soldiers who are leading them across the landscape.

What I like about this is that it adds a narrative to a collection. Suddenly, your soldiers aren't just running into battle but having to watch over their supplies on a mountain pass. Their vehicles have been left behind and now they're slogging up through twisting paths on foot watching out for the enemy.

Some of the miniatures were sculpted by Michael Percy whilst others (like the drivers) have been sculpted by Alan Marsh. I particularly like that they have sculpted it so that some of the Mules are not eager to cooperate!

Each of the sets can be snapped up as a big Italian or Greek bundle but you can also get the Mules and Drivers separately if you prefer. They sure do look nice when placed into terrain like this mountain pass or a dusty trail...

Something a little bit different I think you'd agree. You could use these for games as mentioned above but they would also be great as part of a diorama or vignette. It certainly shows off the tiring work (for both humans and animals!) that happens away from the fighting.

Are you tempted to pick these up?
