10mm High Elves by nightrunner

We start off this week's Community Spotlight with a look at some excellent 10mm High Elves from nightrunner. This shows off a High Elf army that has been painted up and based for use in the awesome Fantastic Battles.

10mm High Elves #1 by nightrunner

The painting on these is bloody fantastic! I love the amount of colour that has been worked into these miniatures and how much detail is present. You've got shield designs painted in alongside even the little bit of script on the scroll the Commander's advisor is holding.

You get a better look at some of the amazing shield designs in this rearview look at the miniatures.

I also really like the built-up basing for these, turning them into little vignettes and dioramas on the tabletop. It really enforces the heroic nature of these generals as they take command of the battlefield.

This sterling paint job continues over onto the rest of the rank and file miniatures. Here you can see the massed ranks of spearmen that are getting ready to hold the line against an advancing foe.

I think the basing works a treat here too. It has been designed so it can be used for a few different game systems, namely Sword & Spear Fantasy, Impetvs Fantasy and Warbands. I also think it looks great and you get the effect of them walking through an often-overlooked corner of some Fantasy world.

15mm WWII Germans by redvers

Moving on from tiny, fighting Elves, we also have a look at some small World War II German Panzergrenadiers from redvers and their growing project. Here we have some 15mm Germans that are going to be deployed at Monte Cassino and throughout Northern Italy.

Again, I am loving the amount of detail that we're getting in the schemes here. It might look simple but I think there has been a good choice of colour here to make each of their uniforms pop. I also really like how all the faces have been picked out well and you get a real sense of the individuals, especially amongst the command staff.

There is a good mix of both plastic and metal as part of this collection, offering up a nice array of options for these Panzergrenadiers. I love that the weapons have been picked out in that trademark sand/tan colour. I also think the basing suits nicely and doesn't distract from the action going on in each scene.

There is a nice selection of miniatures here and it should suit the growing collection that redvers has been tinkering with. The focus is on using these for Flames Of War and as a supporter of anyone who brings infantry to this tank heavy game, I am fully on board with this army!

Republican Romans by amachan

Last but by no means least, we're turning out attention to the work of Amachan who has been working away on some fantastic Republican Romans for use in SAGA: Age Of Hannibal and the Pyrrhic War.

Republican Romans #1 by amachan

This band of Romans has been growing for a while now and it is really nice to see them coming together so nicely. There has been a great deal of research going into this, especially on the way to paint those horses! One of the things I also really like is how amachan places their models in nice scenes like the one above.

As I mention, this project has been growing and updating really nicely over the last while and it's been fun seeing the miniatures come to life. I love the way that amachan has done the armour for example on these infantry units.

Then, you've got this really nice looking Roman Cavalry as well that are charging into the heart of battle. Who could say no to a horde of angry, charging Romans wanting to secure the frontier of the empire?

Republican Romans #2 by amachan

I also commend anyone who can paint that many horses. Hats off to you! This is a really well put together project that features some amazing miniatures and I can't wait to see what it all looks like when it's finally on the tabletop in the midst of battle.
