The world of Coven has been brought to life thanks to the illustrations and concept art of John Wigley. Chris Bone has also joined the team to delve into the background story and lore of Coven. Mark Farr is helping out through crafting the miniatures over at Footsore and the award-winning designer Andy Hobday has created the rules for the game. With over 100 years of combined experience in tabletop games, there is quite a wealth of talent at work here.

The world of Coven is a little different from your normal skirmish game. Instead of playing as hunters and human heroes, you'll instead be taking on the role of one of the Ved'ma.

With your Ved'ma under your control, you'll fight for dominance of The Cauldron and pit yourself against others of your kind. You'll also bring a faithful band of beasts, misfits and more to help you in your endeavours.

As you might have guessed, the world of Coven is very much inspired by European and Eastern European folklore and myth. It draws heavily from the strange and eerie tales of what lives in the wilderness, deep in the forests and in the valleys between towering mountains. Think of it as Slavic and Russian folklore with a dash of Transylvania for good measure.

Coven Kickstarter Options

You can pledge for just the book if you like, but the team has also been working on a sinister band of Ved'ma for you to use in your games and lead the way. All of these are 28mm scale and give you an idea of the world you'll be inhabiting.

Stretch Goals for the campaign then offer up the chance to get your hands on some new terrain pieces and upgrades to the book that will fall into your hands. You will also help them add the terrifying seventh Ved'ma to your pledge.

More of the creatures of Coven are also in the works. This gives you a neat idea of Wigley's style and what could be coming down the pipeline for Coven in the future.

The game is shaping up to be a nice one to dive into if you like bespoke miniatures. With between fifteen and twenty-five miniatures per side, objective-based scenarios and rules for making your own Ved'ma, this seems like it could be a wildly creative endeavour for you to have a crack at. Get kitbashing!
