Red Raven Games' Ryan Laukat has another board game on the way for the Sleeping Gods series. Distant Skies is a standalone sequel in the series where your cargo plane vanishes through a portal into another world.

Sleeping Gods Distant Skies - Red Raven Games

Sleeping Gods: Distant Skies // Red Raven Games

Whilst the previous game in the series had you being transported into a new world on a boat, in Distant Skies you soar through the clouds. You find yourself in a land of "bizarre creatures, scheming gods, and untold dangers" and your task is to find your way back before the portal closes.

As with the initial game, you will dive into a storytelling game filled with exploration. As you travel, the branching storyline will have you meeting different characters and interacting with them as you explore the game's atlas. You will camp in the wilds, overcome obstacles and search for lost relics whilst also taking on deadly foes in combat.

The twist here is that players now build a combat deck of cards that they use during gameplay. This offers up ways to personalise the game to your tastes and explore combat in a new way with fresh and dynamic puzzles.

Whilst this game can be played without prior knowledge of Sleeping Gods, those who played the original will find characters and storylines expanded from the tales you told. It seems like a really fun idea and another fantastic open-world board game from Laukat and Red Raven Games.

Laukat's games are always fun and fascinating experiences featuring stunning artwork and storytelling.
