Halloween 2022 Brings Dead By Daylight Tabletop Experience
March 2, 2022 by fcostin
Horror video games have never been much of a strong suit for me. I have spent far too many hours than I would like to admit, hiding in cupboards from horrific enemies instead of facing the battle or objective in front of me

One title, in particular, I proved dreadful at. Hiding in fear throughout the whole game which would ultimately cause a team loss, Dead By Daylight is no pleasure for me when I have a petrifying whistling into my headset, ready to hunt me down and stop me from escaping. I love the team concept, however, I am usually rendered with fear to the point where hiding seems like my best option when I can hear my teammates being ripped to shreds outside.
Maybe I will have the courage to dip into the board game, as Level 99 have announced that they will be running a Kickstarter campaign to do just that! Bringing 1-4 players a chance to survive and escape a sick and twisted killer on the loose.
If you have never played Dead by Daylight, players will be teamed up to face a killer who wants to see nothing more than your own demise. Players will have to work together in restoring loud and clunky generators without being picked up by the killer to be put to sleep. Players want to leave, players do not want to be killed. That goes for the killer too.
The killer is controlled by another player, with the goal to wipe players off of the map. Stop them in their tracks in a tension-filled experience of different types of survivors and killers on your coattails.
The game is set to be released this Halloween, as the Original Dead By Daylight team has shared in the successes and choices made in the board game experience. And how Level 99 have captured the suspense and tension of the game, by translating the Killers vs Survivors gameplay onto the tabletop.

There is going to be two different pledges available on Kickstarter, a Standard Edition containing 6 Killers, 7 Survivors, and 2 maps, and The Collector's Edition which will have 16 Killers, 17 Survivors, and 4 maps. All of which survivors and killers contained have been taken from the video game.
I am actually quite excited about this one. This is one I think I would be much better at on the tabletop, than I would be on the screen. I can imagine the translation over from video games would work quite well. What do you think?
I think I would be less scared and more tactical if I knew the killer was sitting across the room with me... I know those people... they never pick on me first!

I love the videogame, I wonder how well the boardgame can replicate those desperate runs, and close misses that make it so exciting.
Agreed the VG is mental. I have spent far too much money buying DLC for this just so I can run away from a Pinhead!
DEEEEEfinitely in the same boat. lol All the extra characters… the cosmetic skins…
And seriously… the ONLY time I have survived against Pinhead, is a match where he was lagging to glitched out and sat in one spot on the map in a loop the entire time.
LOVE this game, I got it last summer and it was become pretty much the only game I have played lately.
I’m not sure how they can capture that same tense life and death anticipation you feel online, but if they can pull that off, I will be thoroughly impressed!
either way, I’m all in if only because I want these minis.
I’m REALLY hoping that they have stretch goals of some of the alt skins!
When they say releasing in October, do they mean the kickstarter will be going live in October, or that they are planning to have it shipped at that point?
Kickstarter will be going live soon, hopefully having a release for October! So out on our tables for Halloween! 🙂
