Happy Sunday!

this is a song about whales
It’s the XLBS Show……………..Happy Sunday Fellow CoGs!
A Happy Sunday everyone. I hope this finds you all Grand. Great to see Warren ?
Pascal really is just an attention seeker isn’t he
happy sunday,
its been a long saturday for me. just got in this sunday morning. now to watch the xlbs and the greatest movie ever made. oh Fuck @ben, he knows what he did.
Gerry you have been outdone by your nemesis GW. A wargame without death, which is based on movement, has strategic analysis of aggression/defense threat ranges, the elements of the weather impact as well as a press your luck dynamic sounds a lot like an ass game of Blood Bowl against dwarves. Apologies to Ben in this, but I’m thinking of all the injury rolls that just go sideways when those squat bastards just get stunned instead of all out murderated (only the most colorful of terms for the unabashed violent act of bringing death upon another). I think I might… Read more »
Blood Bowl isn’t without death… your highly trained and costly champions can die…
It removes models from the table though renaming it to injury doesn’t change it as we discussed in the show.
Happy Sunday!
My idea of a wargame with no killing would be paintball. Maybe using a slight conversion of One Page Rules. But instead of figure removal, when one of your dudes gets hit they have to use their actions to walk back to their base where they restock their ammo and get back into the fight. There could even be a mechanic that if you get shot that there’s a chance of getting shot somewhere tender and it lowers your defence for a few rounds. Scenario wise you can’t go wrong with a classic cature the flag.
There is a paintball wargame eBob even has 28mm paintballers
I have those miniatures and downloaded the rules. Had to have them cause in my younger days I was all about the Paintball Scene. I co-founded one team, “The Longriders”, (as we were Kansas based and went with the western theme), that did serious tournaments, we did pretty well for ourselves. Then started it up again a few years later with a new team on my own, “Electric Mayhem”, (as by that time the electronically controlled paintball markers were reliable and everywhere). The second time we focused on more fun and less tourney play. Love the Paintball minis and rules!
I can imagine all the figure names from the Muppets
Yup, we always used ‘call signs’ in the second group based on the muppet band!
were you Dr Teeth
HeHe yup. ??
When on the field it was shortened a bit, DT or just TEETH.
I loved it when someone would yell for help and call for, “time to Bare our Teeth” which meant they wanted a balls to the wall frontal charge from me to try to over-whelm a position.
Good memories!!! ??
ps..my Angel IR3 was capable of 32 rounds a second, if I remember right,(aftermarket electronics control board). Talk able sending a rope of paint down on a target….(aka player)
Aren’t effects boards the key to U2’s career?
without the wah wah peddle the edge would just be a line
If people haven’t they need to check out Bill Bailey – Part Troll where he demos the impact of a malfunction at a U2 gig!
So the new TV series “Witch hunter” begins at the same time Warren chooses that period… Coincidence?
I haven’t watched it yet but apparently it’s not very funny, which is a shame for a comedy.
Age of Brenda sounds like it has a bit of a Mythic Battles vibe with the areas with multiple models. Playing with the MB:P idea of different sized, shaped zones with different capacities sounds interesting.
Not really Penda is good
I may take a look at Dead Man’s Hand as I have some Old West minis painted and never been used just gathering dust.
Well on first blush it looks good I’ll hopefully find out soon. If it doesn’t work I’ll go back to whamster old west
Just wandering if you got the knuckleduster minis from the states.?
No there is a UK supplier but I’m still waiting so it may have been faster to order from the US
Happy Sunday Wait, forgot to get my coffee *pauses* Continue! 00:13 a wild Warren appears! He sounds a bit like “LIES! DECEPTIONS!” XD 01:35 “In every man there is a child” 02:40 Uncle Warren is in the house… or is it great grand uncle at this point? 04:25 “Lord Warren” 05:00 “Welcome to the shitshow that’s the world right now” 05:45 “…naked witches…” who would have thunk!? XD 07:35 vintage… I’m counting as “ancient and pre historic” already 08:20 Fuckmeter going to levels today 11:11 From this day on Warren is now known as “vintage Warren”…. VW for short… @warzan… Read more »
Thanks @sundancer
Hi OTTers XLBS SHOW.
Yay Dr drug juggling you can’t best it warzan.
Brilliant show, great to see Warren back! Tim’s Speed Paints test is a worthy button winner, although the orc photos would have looked better with some robots in the background. @sundancer – ask Gerry where he got his.
He got his send to him for “testing” I bet… 😉
Not all some I got from firestorm and some from Sweden
Have you tryed one of them figure holder’s with the hand rest to help steady your hand warzan?
Something like this sort of thing warzan.

There’s someone playing ‘applepicking28’ and posting about it on YouTube. Also am sure one of the wargames magazines had a sheep herding minigame to play if you are doing a huge multi player historical game and it’s at a boring stage or all your minis have died. Other non lethal ideas: Herd and catch a monster. Deal with a natural disaster or fight a fire. Use small red orange yellow d6. Start with a random number in random locations. Then the dice all get turned up by one each turn and when a dice hits 4,5,6 you add a new… Read more »
Isn’t “Go” a bit like that ?
Maneuver of armies abstracted to the most basic level possible in order to capture/surround your opponent until he has no more moves left …
Yes like Ben said
Wynunna Earp may be great for add to that game Gerry.
First type of game without model removal that comes to mind is a race game of some kind. For a wargame, maybe something based around reconnaissance. Essentially very similar to what Gerry was discussing, but at a higher level. Players use blinds to bluff where their combat units are, and put out scouts and screens to cover them from the enemy/locate where the opposition are. There’s a bit of planning with force selection, deciding what units to detach to scout, at the cost of them being absent from battle formations. You can buy in things like local guides, guerilla fighters… Read more »
Shay shay don’t go shay.?
Congratulations @sundancer
Fab show guy’s half expecting to see a flying set of blinds at the end their.
