Codex: Aeldari For Warhammer 40K Drops This Weekend!
February 21, 2022 by brennon
Games Workshop is readying up for new Warhammer 40,000 pre-orders this weekend. The Aeldari are getting their brand new Codex for 9th Edition alongside the release of a host of miniatures for the first wave.
Codex: Aeldari // Warhammer 40,000

Codex: Aeldari is one of the biggest to date. It rivals Codex: Space Marine in its size and comes in at a rather immense 200 pages. This is because the book contains rules for playing as the Asuryani, Harlequins and the Ynnari in your games of Warhammer 40,000.
So, that's a massive array of new and updated entries for the various units alongside condensed and revamped options for all of the different Craftworlds (sneaky little extra - Altansar are going to be included in an upcoming White Dwarf). You will also find a big new campaign system for Crusade and more for Psychic Disciplines.
You can also go for the limited edition version of the Codex if you like as is standard.
New Dark Reapers
As well as the new Codex, there are also going to be some new miniature releases. Maugan Ra leads his Dark Reapers with brand new plastic kits covering both the character and his Aspect Warriors.
Maugan Ra // Warhammer 40,000
A pretty awesome miniature for Maugan Ra. I like that it carries over a lot of what made the original metal miniature so awesome whilst also giving it some modern flair. He looks suitably "metal" which is exactly what you want when it comes to a skull-masked death-dealer.
The same goes for the new plastic Aspect Warriors for the Dark Reapers. Armed with their tempest launchers, Aeldari missile launchers, shuriken cannons, or reaper launchers, they are a force to be reckoned with.

The Dark Reapers also come with a few extra accessories like a hooded head option for the Exarch. You also get that little Shrine which could be used as a neat objective marker in your games too if you like. It might also have a use in-game, who knows!
New Guardians
It seems apt that the new Codex should come alongside the brand new and updated Guardians kit for the Aeldari.
Guardians // Warhammer 40,000
This doesn't do too much extra to the old kit but adds a lot of movement and dynamism to the original plastic kit. I like that we have more un-helmeted options and much more variety when it comes to the body types. There are options in the kit for turning them into Storm Guardians with close combat weapons and you can change up the Weapon Platform so it has the brand new Serpent Shield. This gives your Guardians a lot more staying power.
New Warlocks
The old metal Warlocks are also getting set aside in favour of some brand new plastic kits for them too.
Warlocks // Warhammer 40,000
The kit allows you to make two Warlocks armed with Witch Blades or Singing Spears. You can also tinker with alternative hand options including a shuriken pistol and an open hand. I think I like the helmeted head option and the open hand getting ready to cast a psychic power.
New Dice & Datacards
Finally, at least for the new releases, we have some new Dice and Datacards for the Aeldari coming up for pre-order.
Datacards & Dice // Warhammer 40,000
This will give you a handful of admittedly nice-looking dice that could be used to theme your collection even more. The Data Cards are going to be more useful as good reference options for Psychic Powers, Strategems and more. Again, just like the Codex, this covers all three factions included in the book.
The Triumvirate Unbound
Stepping away from the new releases, the original Triumvirate is now going to be available separately for the first time.
Yvraine // Warhammer 40,000
Visarch // Warhammer 40,000
Yncarne // Warhammer 40,000
This is good news for those who like doing a bit of kit-bashing and converting. Instead of having to buy the big kit you can now just source a single miniature and add that into the mix. I particularly like the Visarch model and think that would be great as an alternative Autarch.
With the Exodites potentially on the way and lots of options for mixing the Aeldari and the Drukhari, this seems like a good time to start tinkering with alternative-looking armies.
Are you going to be snapping up some of these new pre-orders this weekend?

Fab figures but I really love the look of the ice dice.
Those dice are really nice looking. Of course it’s also nice to see those miniatures from Triumvirate getting re-released on they own.
