Twenty years ago Crocodile Games released their very first warband for WarGods of Aegyptus sculpted by Chris Fitzpatrick.  Now two decades later they are running a campaign to both expand the range and to revamp the original models and they're already chomping through the stretch-goals.

S-Queen

Queen of the Crocodiles // WarGods of Aegyptus

The Queen of the Crocodiles is a mighty Asar warrior who lives among the Sebeki.  She is feared and respected by the people of Crocodiliopolis, for those that offend her are dealt swift justice - indeed, she is carrying the head of the latest offender!

She is an amazing looking sculpt, I've always been a fan of Chris' work since I first saw his elves, the ritual marking scarred into her skin and the addition of several teeth of her patron god to adorn her shows exactly what faction she belongs to. The little touch that the massive axe can be posed either over the shoulders or being lent on is simply genius and with something that changes the silhouette that starkly it makes a real difference.

The Asar Of Crocodiliopolis // Crocodile Games

The Queen is not the only Asar to join the Sebeki on the tabletop, two units of human infantry will be taking to the field. Both units contain three poses and will be ten-strong but with stretch-goals Crocodile Games are hoping to expand on this. The archer unit will be gaining a captain while the spearmen are hoping to recruit a musician and standard-bearer.

The use of a turtle shell as a shield is possibly my favourite thing, especially since their name in scandiwegian translates as Shield-Toad it makes perfect sense to me that the citizens of Crocodiliopolis would find them to be ideal armour. The have a wonderfully grounded fantastical twist to them.

Sebeki Flingers

Who doesn't love long-range artillery and if you have people the size of the Sebeki then you definitely should be putting that strength to good use with their Flingers. Three weary Asar try to keep the Sebeki supplied with rocks to devastate their targets at range, and if you are facing a phalanx of Spartans the best way to deal with them is to break up their formation. This will certainly help.

Did Somebody Say Just Eat? // Nippers

Des Hanley, who does a lot of the concept art, is sculpting a Sebeki Cook and Stewpot with these little Nippers as his aids...or should that be hindrances? They look so happy to be helping I don't have the heart to tell them that they're terrible at what they do!

Sebeki Warband // Remastered

Just like a Blu Ray release the beloved of Sobek are getting a remaster. So you can pick up the original warband all shiny and new, like a freshly polished skull from a crocodile infested pool! The Crocodile Games Mascot is also getting a revamp for the Kickstarter in an over the top action pose and you can see Des' concept sketch over on the Kickstarter page.

It's a fantastic range of models and terrific to see that Crocodile Games revisiting their spawning ground twenty years later. I just wish I looked as good twenty years on from that first release.

Will you be snapping these up?
