Happy Sunday OTTers! Interesting topic. Years ago I played competatively in the tournament scene and at one tournament a well known player was caught cheating. In the next big tournament another well known player’ was caught ‘submarining’ to the top with a friend throwing the game, so that he could make a representative team. I remember talking to my father (a veteran of 2 wars) about it later. He said “You realise military intelligence, like spying is real-life cheating? Was Britain ‘cheating’ when they broke the Enigma code? Was this a game simulating war?” I didn’t agree then or now.… Read more »
I would say that coding and decoding is a normal part of war and it’s within the rules. A better example would be War Crimes. It’s against the rules to just round up a bunch of PoW’s and blow their brains out just like it’s against the rules to cheat.
Happy sunday,
to another week with the greatest movie ever made and a cup of tea
I’m still watching, only 25 minutes in and gratefully enjoying watching Lloyd in his presentation of the Death Korps minis. Lloyd brings such a refreshing entertainment to the show. Along with Gerry,I can imagine there is a ‘laugh-a-second’ when they get going!!! Keep up the excellent delivery boys! ?
@lloyd Makers Cult Patreon have a whole range of DKK including riders https://www.patreon.com/themakerscult/posts
And they have a CgTrader store where the DKK cavalry are $12,50 https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/miniatures/sci-fi/valour-korps-cavalry
Happy Sunday!
Didn’t the makers of that anti piracy add get into trouble for technically pirating the soundtrack?
I believe that they did, yes 😀
yep … they didn’t have the copyright for the soundtrack …

Lol now theirs a shocker do as we say not what we do.
I know that there are several free alternatives to Death Riders on Thingiverse and Cults3D. I have several of them saved to my Imperial Guard STL files folder. I can’t though speak for how they look printed….
And yeah, Thudd Guns were GREAT. That 4-blast template that you rolled scatter for each subsequent template off of the previous one was nifty.
Hi OTTers/backstagers.
Happy Sunday!
Some people are raised by parents to win at all costs, some are driven by their insecurities to need to be seen as a winner. If that’s what floats your boat just don’t ask for a second game with me.
Flipping the topic around, what I get really offended by is being accused of cheating by a sore loser. Sometimes there’s been a genuine misunderstanding over a rule (maybe I’ve confused similar rulesets) and I’ve admitted my mistake and carried on, other times the games been played correctly but the dice/cards have gone in my favour; but in the sore loser’s head the only way they could have lost was that their opponent must have cheated. In several situations I’ve noticed ‘dodgy’ behaviour from the accuser so maybe they’re thinking “but I was cheating and still lost so they must… Read more »
Just get their lizard figures an give them guns an lasers Lloyd ?
Kroot… visually related to the bird poo of Chaos as Tzanagors with genetically selective Ork guts that were just shy of being Ogryn in their relation to an authoritarian species of Tau that oversaw them while outfitted for mecha anime. Did GW just run low on inspiration?
They probably fired most of the talented people?
Happy Sunday and great show folks 🙂
I know somebody who used to warm their tokens / dice up in games where you pick from a bag (Quarriors, Dice masters, Quacks of Quadlingburg etc..)
Unfortunately people do cheat and I just don’t understand it.
People, myself included get rules wrong occasionally, its inevitable when you play a lot of different systems but you notice with some people them only getting things wrong when it works in their favour, consistently.
The good thing about reading off the tablet is if your eye’s are struggling to see the writhing you can make the words bigger @averos
Cheating… hmm… I’m reminded of a portion of Starship Troopers regarding the valuation of awards. Did you get an award for actually accomplishing something or was it just given to you? The former gives a feedback for merit, the latter is “Hey, you were present” and means nothing. In a way things might be skewed slightly more toward the latter through videogame ‘awards’. Playing the game is the fun. Sure the spotlight can be shone on doing a thing, but does it change the experience? The weirdos can even enjoy failure awards. Fallout 4 included a “Touchdown!” award where you… Read more »
Happy Sunday!
I wonder if you could make parallels between cheaters and addicts. Winning generates feeling of pleasure with the release of endorphins, and some people get addicted. So invariably they need to get their fix. Likewise, the fear of going ‘cold turkey’ e.g. losing is not something they can face so they need their hit.
When my younger brother and I started playing tabletop games, my 10 year older brother (who already worked) started playing as well. He was also a competitive chess player that was very good and won most of his games. He also enjoyed beating people and sometimes teased or mocked them. So when he played wargames you could see that he wanted to do the same, always making filth lists, adding more points that he should. He also bought the strongest, more expensive models, which sucked for us as we couldn’t afford all the models as we were still going to… Read more »
Cheers very much folks – really glad you like me Moonstone, they really are such fun to paint and yes…… its is ALL Gerry’s fault!! Happy Sunday all 🙂
A brilliant funny show guy’s.
Cheaters gonna cheat, because they refuse to deal with the concept of loss and the idea that they might not be ‘the best’ at ‘everything’ like mommy told them they were. However I’d argue that while cheaters are bad … the worst thing are those rules lawyers who find holes in rules and abuse the heck out of them even if it is against the spirit of the game/rule, because they’d rather win at any cost. It’s the type that in sports would use doping, because the specific substance was not yet on the list of banned substances even though… Read more »
When I realize I’m playing against a cheater, I never call them out but always immediately start to interpret all rules, die rolls, measurements in HIS (or HER) favour to such an extreme extend that it is comically obvious and ridiculous. Then, when the game is over, I eloquently and extensively congratulate them for their win and how genius they are for how they play, and that they are paragons of good gaming. Man, the faces I saw on a very few occasions where I was able to do this have been priceless!
Happy Sunday.
Love those three golden button winning projects, fantastic miniatures.
Yep, I hate cheaters, it’s very selfish. Also how can you be proud of yourself with a win if you know you’d cheated? I like to win but don’t mind loosing, I’m certainly used to it, even with solo games (just see some of my Rangers of Shadow Deep games when the entire party is out by the end of the game).
@brennon I have an admittedly unrealistic hope that the next Kill Team box will be the corsairs pitched against that Rogue Trader crew. There’s a bit of thematic sense in the pairing, but I think it’s unlikely. Otherwise I’m hoping that GW will release the Starstriders separately, as I think a previews for one of their supplements showed rules for using Rogue Trader crews
Flappy Sunbay!

@lloyd I believe that the FoG computer games was derived from the tabletop game, which Simon Hall was instrumental in creating. However things of moved on as @avernos stated Simon has created MeG. MeG is a system that I derived from FoG and far more effective as a rule set than FoG.
@commodorerob I thought it aS Bodley-Scott who wrote most of FOG
It was a combination of Simon Hall, Richard Bodley Scott and Terry Shaw.
I’ve got the old Fields of Glory 2 too Lloyd, its the ancient one. I’m equally terrible at it+
Win at all costs is not for me. My worst games have been where I’ve ROFL-stomped someone, and my faourite game ever was a loss in a Dreadball tournament because it was HILARIOUS! Games are a laugh, tournament games are a laugh too, tournament prizes are just not worth making it not a laugh.
@avernos , happy for you to mention my rules! Glad you found them interesting. Death Corps are certainly the kind of thing that would work well for them…. Though I might need to add the shovel as a melee weapon!
