Outremer // The Barons' War
The new Outremer (a name for the Crusader States) campaign is going to be coming later this year in May. It will feature a brand new selection of miniatures by Paul Hicks (woot!) alongside updated rules from Andy Hobday.
Exploring a new setting, especially one like the Crusades, offers up some interesting options for the team. You'll have the Europeans of course, marching to war in The Holy Land, but I doubt that the Muslim forces there are going to take this incursion lightly.
The Church calling a Crusade was a good way to stop the infighting happening in Europe between the aforementioned Barons but I'm sure there will be plenty of space for their inflated egos here. I am very eager to see the miniatures they have planned. The preview miniatures above look fantastic.
Are you going to be diving into this one in May?

Long ago and far away from Ancient Araby we gained the friendly tune of taunting “My Mustache Brings All the Girls to the Yard” which was the real reason behind the Crusades. A challenge to European facial follicular fortitude

I have been buying loads of historical miniatures to use in fantasy RPGs and will be expanding those into Saga warbands for a number of settings. The Barons War has provided me with some absolutely amazing miniatures and I can’t see me missing out on this one. I’m just seeing Elder Scrolls Red Guards

Usually I dont do Kickstarters but the Barons War KSs are an exception. Its a beautiful range.
I’ve bought a number of minis from Footsore including The Barons War range and they’re lovely figs. But the two preview figures for the Outremer range are really special. I’m definitely picking up some of these, whether or not I join the KS.
Very cool! Given the “expansion” is called Outremer, it would be great if they didn’t limit their focus to the Latins and Turks. I’d love to see some Byzantines (Who called themselves Romans) as well. They played a huge role militarily in the region, with a lot of the Barons swearing fealty to them in exchange for protection. This is around the period of the second crusade (before and after).
This looks and will be amazing!
It’s now until May that Kickstarter has time to reverse the idiotic blockchain decision… Otherwise I’ll have to wait until retail, which will hopefully happen via Footsore as has been for the other BW campaigns.
I have started saving for this one. In fact Paul Hicks has shown me some of the sculpts at Salute and all I can say is wow.
