Libertalia Gets A New Edition With Winds Of Galecrest Coming Soon
February 3, 2022 by brennon
Libertalia is an awesome card game of piratical fun and skullduggery. It was initially released in 2012 by designer Paolo Mori with a distinctly old school pirate theme. But, the piratical antics are now going to be taken to the skies with Stonemaier Games' new edition of the game, Winds Of Galecrest.
Libertalia: Winds Of Galecrest // Stonemaier Games
The new version of the game features art by Lamaro Smith which turns you into sky pirates! The core of the original game is still there though with you taking command of a varied crew. Each turn you'll choose members of your crew to help you collect a share of the loot. But, things can twist on a dime and the characters that are chosen each day could interact with each other in very interesting ways!
The new edition of the game comes with the new art as we've mentioned, forty characters per player, a new reputation system that resolves tiebreaks and some fancy new loot tokens. You will also find a new solo mode and much more within its cardboard box.
If you're interested in the game, here is us playing the original game back in 2013!
Let's Play: Libertalia
I hope the core of the Libertalia experience is going to be retained. It was a lot of fun and have some great "gotcha" moments between players. It was fun and strategic in equal measure and it's a shame that it drifted into obscurity over the past eight or so years.
It will be interesting to see how lavish the new version is. Stonemaier does tend to add some rather fancy game components to their products.
Are you tempted to snap this up?
