Games Workshop Lay Out The Roadmap For Age Of Sigmar In 2022

Games Workshop has been previewing more for the Mortal Realms this week. The Fantasy world of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar is going to be getting a whole bunch of new Battletomes throughout 2022 as part of their new roadmap.

The first two factions to receive their new Battletomes are going to be the forces of the Idoneth Deepkin and the Fyreslayers. They recently made an appearance as part of the new Fury Of The Deep Battlebox which landed recently in stores.
The next Battlebox for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar has also given us a preview of the two factions getting their Battletomes after these. The Nighthaunt and Daughters Of Khaine will find themselves gaining access to more power later this year in the Spring.

A nice follow up to Arena Of Shades which introduced two new heroes for both factions. I have to say, I am liking the new artwork that we're getting on these covers. It steps away from the somewhat cartoony style that we first saw when Age Of Sigmar appeared and embraces a little more of the grimdark. Regardless of the immense magical forces at work in the Mortal Realms, it is still a pretty horrible place to live!
One of the nice things about these new Battletomes is that they are taking a leaf out of the Warhammer 40,000 Codexes. They will come with updated Path To Glory rules for their appropriate factions allowing you to start off with a smaller army and chart its rise to greatness.
You'll also note that two Battletomes have been slotted in for the summer...

Something Chaos and something Order is on the way to finish things off for the first half of the year. I could see us getting something specific for one of the Chaos Gods or perhaps a larger book governing the combined forces of Archaon on the tabletop.
The Order book will be interesting with perhaps more for the Free Cities, building on their range? I guess we shall wait and see what the next Battlebox is going to be!

Fabulous looking book cover artwork.
Didn’t Daughters of Khaine already get their battle tome? It wasnt that long ago either, or am I missing something?
February last year aye
yep … just prior to release of the new AoS rules.
I suspect this version adds in the new mini from the recently announced battle box featuring them.
I must admit that I am confused as to why this faction ‘needs’ a new codex at all.
I guess it is to satisfy those who need everything at the correct version ?
I will be honest as a Daughters of Khaine player I dont quite understand why we are getting a new book quite so soon. Not only is out book less than a year old but we had update just months before than. Unless we are getting new models I am slightly unsure why we need a book so soon. The rest of the roadmaps makes a lot of sense.
