1st Corps’ Home Guard Get Their Skates On With New WWII Releases
January 21, 2022 by brennon
The Home Guard are the focus of 1st Corps at the moment for those diving into a bit of World War II action on the tabletop. The first set we're looking at for use on the Home Front has the Home Guard On Roller Skates!

These miniatures were sculpted by Mark Fuller and gives you ten metal figures. As well as the regular troops, you also have an Officer and Light Machine Gun. And yes, this is an entire squad on roller skates.
Whilst this might seem silly, it was apparently an idea that was floated to help the soldiers get around a little bit faster. The idea is that they could be used as despatch racers. The hope was that they could get up to forty miles per hour and use this mobility to get from point A to B easily. A good way to round up some enemy paratroopers!
If you're not wanting to roll around on roller skates then you could instead just join the new Home Guard Observation Team.

A great miniature that could be used to start off a bigger objective-based game on the tabletop. Perhaps these soldiers could have spotted the incoming Germans and you now need to get the lads down to the beach! Put on those roller skates!
Are you tempted to snap up these new releases?

Warlord had a fella on roller skates in one of their Operation Sea Lion sets. I thought he was a bit daft for me (yes really) and built the basing material up to cover the wheels.
I had no idea it was a real thing. The British war effort was bananas!
Yay The week the Jones van was in the garage? Lol
