The Army Painter Speedpaint Starter Set Pre-Orders Live

The Army Painter has now fired up the pre-orders for their new Speedpaint range. The new Speedpaint Starter Set is now available over on their revamped webstore giving you a peek at some of the new colours they have in the works.

The proper release date will be 19th February and will feature the ten Speedpaints that you see here alongside a free brush to get you going. The idea behind the Speedpaint range is that it will give you a quick and easy way to paint your miniatures without the hassle of multiple stages.

One coat and the miniature is ready to go. It offers you another tool in the hobby arsenal to use when painting your miniatures. I could see these being pretty neat for those who want to paint up a massive amount of board game models quickly for example.
The paints contain a resin medium solution which provides the final look that you can see above on the example miniature. Each bottle will also come with two mixing balls meaning that it should stay at the perfect consistency each time you come to begin painting.

Already in my order queue… I hope they are as good as it seems
Has Army Painter said when or if these are going to be released individually? Ideally I’d like to transition over to these as the few contrast paints I have run out, but I don’t need a whole set.
The store I pre-ordered mine says March 2022. So between the starter (February) and mega (June) set.
Hopefully, i’ve put something on hold for two months already just to try out the red.
Miniature market is showing individual bottles for preorder individually in late March
These seem to be well regarded in the promotional kits they sent out to various people on youtube.
Still a bit on the pricy side for me though. I seldom use contrast, only one or two colours and I suspect id be the same with this range, I’d rather wait until individual bottles come out and try one or two than splash a load of cash on something in one go.
Ever on the bleeding edge I’ve just started using contrast paints. At this rate I’ll check these out around 2025.
Nice when do you think John/Jerry will be trying these baby’s out.
I’ll buy 1 or 2 to check them out as i don’t like the results of all the Contrast paints i have and will see
I’ve seen a few videos on YouTube from painters that were given advance samples, am very interested in these
Already ordered. I have been underwhelmed by the highly performance of citadel contrast paints; some.l give a nice strong colour, others are like painting with piss. The videos of these I have seen so far seem to give very strong, vibrant colours across the range. If these are good, I may consider fully switching to Army Painter, which would be my final link to anything GW severed.
Bam ? tried them out at salute was very impressed, they had great coverage and we’re not as glossy as contrast paints. already got them on preorder looking forward to splashing them on some models soon.

I still don’t use contrast. I prime and basecoat with colored primers and craft paints, mainly because they have caps and don’t need a palette. 😀 Then I carefully apply washes. However, I don’t paint GW miniatures or “naked” monsters (eg. demons) so have too many distinct areas to paint that would gain much advantage with contrast. I did see Goobertown Hobbies DIY contrast paint video, and he basically says it’s matte medium, acrylic ink, and a little flow improver.
