### Start of shameless copy and paste ###
First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…
https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/
Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.
First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.
You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.
If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.
A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.
Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.
Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)
And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv
### End of shameless copy and paste ###
Questions:
- Do you like coffee?
- Are you suffering from Weekender withdrawal?
- Can you think of a third question?
And now back to the show.
January 14, 2022 at 6:50 am #1709245Pledge: finish more minis! MORE!
Answers:
- yes
- maybe…. though I got to do a lot more hobby…. coincidence?
- No. Oh wait!
No music today but I may interest you in the wisdom of the squirrel:
January 14, 2022 at 8:31 am #1709253Happy Friday.
Pledge is to play the tutorial game of Core Space First Born followed by one or two more games. I’ve also got an mdf grain store to build and paint, as well as a Celtic roundhouse to roof and paint.
Do you like coffee?
Yes, I mostly drink it when I’m out and about. At home my first love is tea.
Are you suffering from Weekender withdrawal?
A little bit.
Can you think of a third question?
What did you have for breakfast?
(I had a bowl of porridge).
January 14, 2022 at 8:33 am #1709254What did you have for breakfast?
I don’t do breakfast on workdays. Makes me to tired
January 14, 2022 at 3:50 pm #1709414This weeks pledge is to start on some Moonstone minis. I just finished writing up the to Blood Angel models I have been working on. https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1706063/
- Do you like coffee? – Nope. Never could get used to hot and/or bitter drinks.
- Are you suffering from Weekender withdrawal? – Watching the old videos last week got me through.
- Can you think of a third question? – “Can you think of a third question?”
January 14, 2022 at 5:11 pm #1709435- Do you like coffee?
only if there’s no tea … and even then it needs milk and lots of sugar. - Are you suffering from Weekender withdrawal?
it does feel like it isn’t a proper weekend without the Weekender, XLBS and this thread.
1 out of 3 is enough to keep me somewhat sane - Can you think of a third question?
yes, do you need one ?
My hidden project is slowly taking shape. If I can get stuff done this weekend I might even have something to show. There’s been nothing but big walls of text so far.
January 15, 2022 at 1:15 am #1709479Hails all,
Once again dropping back in after a long time away (but determined to stick around this time!). Hobby stuff has been happening but this year I’ve promised myself I’ll up my game and I’ve taken on the White dwarf Hobby Bingo card. I’ve set myself the (extremely unlikely) goal of filling out the entire card of 25 entries, if I get anywhere close to it I’ll have far outdone what I painted last year.
First mini up was one of the GW special edition White Dwarf minis. He’s been sitting in a drawer for years but I found myself needing inspiration for a D&D character and a Vampire Hunting Dwarven Cleric sounded like a really cool idea. It was also a good excuse to paint him up.
First square down!
My pledge will be to finish two Admech Kastellan Robots that have been half-done for about a month. There’s quite a bit still left to do with them and I have the accompanying Datasmith so it’ll most likely take me a good few evenings. I have a fortnight to stay on track for Hobby Bingo though.
Questions:
1. I drink coffee for effect. The taste does nothing for me but if I need a jump start then it does the trick.
2. I’ve been suffering from a general Beasts of War withdrawal. Painting more has me catching up on a lot of old content though, I’ve taken to keeping a notepad beside me so I can scribble down companies or games I want to look up afterwards.
3. Long time, no speak. So how’s everyone doing?@danlee
The Blood Angels look great, I love those Leviathan Dreadnoughts. Keep meaning to pick one up for my World eaters.Music…

@irredeemable You do *what*? I’m always glad to forget such things very fast… otherwise… space, time and money are limited 😉
Nice work on the vampire slayer.
January 16, 2022 at 2:45 pm #1709761January 17, 2022 at 12:41 am #1709912Weekend all but done. Didn’t get stuck into my pledge yet but my mate’s nemesis: Lockdown Kickstarter arrived and we spent Saturday night digging through it. He went all-in so there was a literal stack of boxes. The sets look stunning, everything from minis to art and some of the best tokens I’ve seen. I’m the designated “rulebook guy” in our group so I’ll be learning it first.
Speaking of rules, a friend of mine picked up the D&D starter set so I spent a few hours today chatting to her about the basics and going through some of the books I have.
On a different note, has anyone looked into The Old Empire KS from Zenit Miniatures?
The minis look amazing and are right up there with the best Empire models GW ever released. It doesn’t seem to have gained much momentum yet which is a bit strange. Aside from the quality of the minis (from a tried-and-tested company too) I would have thought anyone looking forward to a return to The Old World would have eaten this up. I’m going to jump on myself as I want to make some Mordheim warbands with them.
I’ll sign off with a track that’s been stuck in my head since I re-watched The gentlemen last week.
January 17, 2022 at 1:50 am #1709937Sorry I’m late, chaps. Spent the weekend at my Parent’s place so I wasn’t on my computer too much. I’m going to make a building pledge of some more Paras. I think this time round I’m going to make some special weapon teams like PIATs and such. If I give them all the Para helmet then they can be either Poles or Brits (variety is the spice of life, afterall!) I did a bit of decal repainting last week (see my project) but I said to my brother that it didn’t count for hobby bingo for this year; most of that mini was done last October…
Questions!
Do you like coffee?
Nope. I barely drink tea, if I’m honest. Mainly coke (which I know is bad for me), cider (I drink beer, but I prefer cider), and whisky (but really only Single Malt).
Are you suffering from Weekender withdrawal?
I actually haven’t watched one in so long…I was in the habit of doing it of a Saturday for something to watch, but school sort of got in the way and my routine is in slight chaos at the moment. Maybe I’ll watch a few tonight…
Can you think of a third question?
I can think of an answer, but the question is probably wrong.
For music, I’ve recently got into The Longest Johns, but Battle Beast also have some good tunes for their upcoming album…
Hopefully these all work in the various regions…
January 17, 2022 at 7:21 am #1709989On a different note, has anyone looked into The Old Empire KS from Zenit Miniatures?
Yeah, have seen that one too. They do look nice.
Mainly coke (which I know is bad for me), cider (I drink beer, but I prefer cider), and whisky (but really only Single Malt).
But coke is the one that’s unhealthy? 😉
It’s moanday…. let’s see what the week brings.
January 17, 2022 at 3:51 pm #1710137The correct response to the question ‘do you have a drinking problem?’ is ‘no, I’ve gotten pretty good at it by now.’ 😛
January 17, 2022 at 4:35 pm #1710148Just got an email from Zenit Miniatures. They cancelled the Old Empire KS. Shame it didn’t work out for them but I hope they relaunch it soon. The models were excellent and the pricing was fine so I can only assume they didn’t advertise it well enough.
January 17, 2022 at 4:38 pm #1710152So in four days I’ve played 4 games of Core Space, two small tutorial games and two full sized games. It’s pretty good.
I haven’t made a lot of progress doing hobby though, but I guess learning rules and playing games has to be done sometimes.
I managed to convince my group to play Core Space this Saturday. So far I’m getting good use from my Kickstarter all in purchase.
Bonus, my Moonstone Kickstarter arrived as well. It’s like Christmas all over again.
