The Lord Of The Rings: The Card Game from Fantasy Flight Games is getting an updated Core Set next year. With that, a lot of new people are going to be forming Fellowships and heading off on new adventures in Middle-earth. To aid new players, the designers have put together new Starter Decks!

Grab Your The Lord Of The Rings: The Card Game Revised Core Set

These new Starter Decks cover the various Free Peoples of Middle-earth. Each has been designed around a distinct and different theme and should provide you with a great jumping-off point into the game without having to do any deckbuilding. This of course gives you a whole bunch of cards which can be used to do just that! Use these alongside the new Core Set to make your own band of heroic adventurers.

It should also be noted that if you've already picked up all of the expansions for the game, these packs don't contain new cards. They won't be very useful for those who already own everything but you could find them a neat way to get a friend going in the game.

As mentioned, the different sets focus on the likes of Dwarves, Gondorians, Rohirrim and Elves and make decks based around specific spheres and cards that benefit them.

Elves Of Lorien - The Lord Of The Rings The Card Game

Elves Of Lorien // The Lord Of The Rings: The Card Game

Leadership and Lore sit at the heart of the Dwarven deck whilst Leadership and Spirit follows the Silven and Noldor Elves. Nenya also allows this deck to introduce Lore cards into the mix to help in your endeavours.  Boromir, Mablung and Prince Imhrail bring Leadership and Tactics together with the Gondorian deck.

Defenders Of Gondor - The Lord Of The Rings The Card Game

Defenders Of Gondor // The Lord Of The Rings: The Card Game

This represents the relentless and enduring spirit of the men and women of Gondor who have stood fast against the forces of Sauron for many years. The Riders Of Rohan can call on Lothíriel and Eomer into the mix binding together the spheres of Tactics and Spirit.

Riders Of Rohan - The Lord Of The Rings The Card Game

Riders Of Rohan // The Lord Of The Rings: The Card Game

This is a deck packed with allies that, whilst short-lived, will end up having a great influence on your fortunes during your adventures. It seems like a nice balancing act to try and keep steady when adventuring in The Lord Of The Rings.

With the Revised Core Set on the way and Free putting together her own adventure, it's a good time to try out this fantastic card game. Challenging and dripping with theme, there is a reason this has stayed part of so many people's collections!

Are you going to be trying these out?
