Privateer Press has been sharing some of the new monstrous characters that you're going to be able to play as in Monsterpocalypse. The theme for this current set of releases seems to be concentrated on an Aztec/Mayan theme with some mythical characters coming to the fore.

King Of Camazotz - Monsterpocalypse

King Of Camazotz // Monsterpocalypse

The first of these is the absolutely mighty King Of Camazotz. Andrea Uderzo worked on the design for this particular miniature, bringing this bat-like form to life.

"The King of Camazotz is savage. He became king by murdering his way up and outlasting everyone who sought to dethrone him. All of his power is derived from his ability to bite his opponents to death. He is a vampire in every sense. He may be slow, but a large wingspan is suggested to lift how heavy he is. The best way to describe him would be a demon that has bat-like elements or a black dragon that has bat-like elements. He could be wearing ornamental bone armour or jewellery from dead kaiju he has killed."

This then turned into the great-looking sculpt that was brought to life by Doug Hamilton. I think this fellow looks amazing and it's nice to see the folks at Privateer Press stepping away from the traditional style of kaiju that we have seen in the past.

This trend then continues with another of the miniatures for this new collection. Here we have the impressive form of Xolotl!

Xolotl - Monsterpocalypse

Xolotl // Monsterpocalypse

Nate Brooks worked on this particular miniature, turning the concept into a reality. This miniature stands in stark contrast to the King Of Camazotz and trades a dark and foreboding feel for a colourful and overwhelming look.

This is one of those miniatures that is going to be a painters dream. You could have a lot of fun with wet blending on this miniature, especially on the scales and those brilliant feathers.

A neat peek at what is coming up soon for Monsterpocalypse!
